I will not miss him at all.

Care to expand at all?

For some reason I won't miss him, but I can't quite put my finger on why.

Because he started the year ridiculously hot from the floor, but cooled down dramatically.  Post-ASB, his true shooting percentage was below 50%, while his usage actually fractionally increased.  He’s one of those guys who’s happy to yell at his teammates or the refs when they screw up, but has no self-awareness about his own level of play.

Then there was the jilting of the Spurs, to show you what his word means.  Sure, he was allowed to do that, but no one ever does for a reason.

Finally, did you see any Celtic or ex-Celtic give him even so much as a shoutout on Twitter for his new contract? Rozier, despite lobbing Molotov cocktails at the Celtics on ESPN in May, still got congratulations from some of his former teammates.  It’s been crickets for Morris as far as I could find.

When Morris was at his best, he was a useful player.  But on the whole I think he’s addition by subtraction, given the amount of time he saw on the court last year.

I would have liked him a lot more if we didn't already have Tatum and Hayward on the team. At his previous salary, he was a bargain, but the hierarchy last year was so messed up that he jumped at the opportunity to play alpha cat and moved his way to like number 2 or 3 on the offensive end. He would have been better served as a 6th-7th man (kind of like his 1st year in Boston) on a more veteran-laden team.

His production at the beginning of last season was needed at the time, but it also put him in a position he never should have been in. I would have preferred to stick it out with Hayward and Brown working through their struggles without Morris there ready to pounce (I don't necessarily fault him for this - he isn't a star and he took his opportunity and ran with it. But Brad stuck with him WAY too long).

On the whole, I didn't dislike Morris - he was a tough guy who could produce at a great salary - but it was time for both sides to move on. I genuinely wish him the best of luck moving forward.

I felt Morris played well for us, but the roster clutter made him expendable.

I won't miss Morris but I will miss what he was, which is a veteran with loads of experience who could come off the bench and give better than average player performance at a very reasonable price. I would much rather a player like Morris coming off the bench than the plethora of really young players like Semi, Grant Williams, Robert Williams, Langford, Edwards and others. Or even Euro vets like Theis, Poirier and Wanamaker.

If Morris was on this team, he would be the 6th best player pretty easily. Maybe 5th best.

I'll miss him.  He came in as a "LeBUM stopper" and was actually much more than that.

I think SL nailed it.

Same boat.  I felt, oftentimes, Morris was playing selfish & putting himself ahead of the team.

My issue is not that Morris is gone, but that he wasn't replaced.  The Celtics significantly downgraded their bench by quite simply not replacing rotation players with anyone other than rookies.  That is a problem.

Walker and Kanter "replace" Irving and Horford, but there are no real replacements for Rozier, Baynes, or Morris.  That is 4703 minutes that were not replaced by anyone.  That to me is the reason I would "miss" Morris, not his level of play, but the mere fact he was not replaced and his minutes are going to go to rookies or deep bench type players.

It may or may not be, depending on how it pans out with these kids.   It's a risk but its also still an unknown.

It's certainly not an absolute that its going to be a problem.  I certainly think the level of selfishness out there will decrease.

Not at all, TBH.

I honestly was not a fan of Morris.  He never met a shot he didn't like.  There was a point in the season he was our most consistent player but I felt he hindered the growth of our young stars.  I don't dislike him I just don't like him on my favorite team.

Morris averaged about 28 minutes in 75 games last season.  Who is going to replace those minutes?  Theis?  Ojeleye? Grant Williams?  Morris is much better than any of these guys.  Yes, I believe the Celtics are going to miss his contribution is a big way.

And you can't say that Tatum is going to replace him because Tatum already played full minutes.  He can't play more minutes.  He can play different minutes but then you need to compensate for that too.

Kantor replaces Horford.  Walker replaces Irving.  Both downgrades but there is a replacement for each.  We don't have a replacement for Morris  My hope is that Ojeleye steps up and is able to play increased minutes and bring improved production as compared to his norm.  But that alone won't do it .  Some other lesser big/swing players are going to have to play increased minutes.

I enjoyed Morris' time in Boston.  He was a stabilizing presence after our early struggles last season, and he would have been an ideal role player if the Celtics were an experienced title Contender.  That said, I'm not going to miss him with this particular group.  It's time to turn the page and allow our young players to sink or swim.

His departure will hurt if Tatum or bench doesnt step up
C/PF-Horford, Baynes, Noel, Theis, Morris,
SF/SG- Tatum, Brown, Hayward, Smart, Semi, Clark
PG- Irving, Rozier, Larkin

One thing Morris showed when he was here is that he is a great playoff performer. He and Jaylen were easily the team's two best playoff performers last year and though Morris' shooting from 2 sucked the year before, he was still a big reason that team went so deep with some excellent defense and timely 3 point shooting.

I think you find that GH, JT play a slight increase in minutes, in addition to JB.  I think the rookie and Semi/RW/Poitier make up the rest.  Also have baynes minutes to make up, and I doubt Kanter plays as many as AH did.
