Rui Hachimura is not a unicorn. Not close.
8mura (8 in Japanese is pronounced as hachi as well) was one of my binkies aside from Goga. I thought he would've developed a corner three irrespective of the improvement of his isolation/creation skills, and would've at least been an interesting high energy combo forward who can stretch the floor from the corner and provide some toughness.

Just wanted to post an update on his FIBA play. He's currently averaging 21 points, 6 boards, 1.5 assists, 1.8 steals, 1 block, shooting 57.6% FG and 76% FT, in 30 minutes per game. His physical profile and game look a lot like a young Kawhi.
The unicorn looked more like a giraffe today against Team USA. Against everyday NBA talent, Hachimura might turn out to be pretty good, but I do not see star potential there at all.

It's really hard to determine when the remaining Japanese players look more like a YMCA team. Even Giannis who is playing with much better talent is not dominating in FIBA since all the attention goes to him. He did have a pretty awesome dunk and does seem to be athletic enough to make some noise.
