This is more of a pick of the heart than the brain. I know there are better value players out there, but God, I just love him as a player and I love his game so much, and he would be a terrific fit to our second unit, and MAY potentially start.

Keeping with the theme of defense, unselfishness, toughness and team play, we are happy to select this man.

5x All-Star
1x All NBA
1x All NBA Defensive Team

For pick 10.5, the Detroit Pistons select Al Horford.

After drafting Wilt Chamberlain and before I drafted Dirk, I was thinking of drafting Al Horford as a 5th starter. I thought he'd be a good glue guy next to Wilt. Strong physical defensive PF. Can shoot. Can pass. Good athlete. Can matchup against guys like Karl Malone but also quick dudes like Giannis. Versatile defender.

I think Horford is a really good to have coming off your bench.

Cannot match up against KAT.

Maybe. KAT is indeed talented. But I worry about if KAT can handle Kobe's attitude?

I mean, if he couldn't handle Jimmy Butler's, what more Kobe? Kobe would be much more ruthless at his lack of effort on defense. Chemistry wise, I think that can be an issue.

Ha, Jimmy Butler is there too!

I didn't think of that. Butler and Towns reunited. Oh boy.

Oh, I forgot about that. That's going to be a fun locker room. LOL.

Hakeem, Dave and PAyton are all phenominal locker room guys.

Only issues that Kobe or Butler ever had with anyone was with them not working hard, I dont think it will be an issue as KAT will fall in line with the greats on this team.

With the 10(9) pick in the CS Historical Draft, the Utah Jazz select the off-the-bench defensive extraordinaire, capable 3 point shooter, and glue guy from 2015, the NBA Finals MVP Andre Iguodala.

Before I go to the HDMTL Thread, I'd like to get a little feedback on two possible lineups I'm considering.  Not so much a critique of my team (which I'll eventually ask for in the HDMTL thread), but simply for now if you like lineup A or B better or both the same.

Lineup A:
Starters:  Joe Dumars / Michael Jordan / Chris Mullin / Dennis Rodman / Bill Walton
Bench:  Derrick Rose / Klay Thompson / Andre Iguodala / Bob Pettit / Wes Unseld

This is the more traditional kind of lineup which was built around having a very strong in defense (4 first-team all defenders in season selected, 2 guys who won DPOY at some point).  Has some good scoring too of course and 4/5 players won championships in seasons selected (and 3 of them a Finals MVP at some point).

Lineup B:
Starters:  Michael Jordan / Klay Thompson / Chris Mullin / Dennis Rodman / Bill Walton
Bench:  Derrick Rose / Joe Dumars / Andre Iguodala / Bob Pettit / Wes Unseld

Jordan runs point here and has two phenomenal shooters on the wings.  The idea here is for Derrick Rose to play only and all minutes of backup PG when Jordan sits where he can be the explosive player that he was in 2011.  The surrounding bench cast actually resembles an improved version of the Bulls lineup around Rose that season.  The defense takes a little hit in the starting lineup from Dumars to Klay, but I don't think its a game-changing difference.

My plan was always Lineup A, but I'm leaning towards B now.  Commentary is very much appreciated!

A. I'm of the belief that you should try not to play players out of position but if you need to it should never be the best player.  Jordan is a SG, period.

Seriously. I don't know what to do with Pete Maravich.  I've been thinking about it all day but still, I can't figure out what to do. ;D

It's crazy that I'm saying that, but I really don't know what to do with him. I cannot start him because of his defensive deficiencies, and I can't have him on the bench alongside Bernard King because from what I know, both are ball dominant players.

I know he's a Hall of Fame player, and a terrific talent, but man, I really don't know what to do here. . .

Joe D over Klay definitely. Much more well rounded guard. Better ball-handling, better driving, better midrange scoring, overall a more versatile and reliable scoring threat, better playmaking. Can play PG or SG. One of the most well rounded guards of the late 80s.

You can still play Jordan at PG and use Dumars at SG if you want. But Dumars should definitely be on the court over Klay.

Nope.  Vincent and Paxson were the PG's on the 88-89 team.  Obviously the offense ran through Jordan, but that is not the same thing as actually playing PG.

It is the same issue I'd have with Lebron, Pippen, etc. playing PG.  They weren't PG's.
