Steve Kerr discussed how D'Angelo Russell would fit in the Golden State Warriors' lineup, pointing out his ability to play with and without the ball.

“First, just having a guy who can get you 20 points a night — especially with Klay out for most of the regular season — that’s a huge luxury. The biggest thing will be playing on and off the ball. D’Angelo is a great pick-and-roll player, obviously so is Steph, they’re going to both start in the backcourt together," said Kerr.

Reports from The Athletic contradicted the belief that the Warriors signed Russell as a future trade asset, saying the team has a "long-term vision" of developing Russell next to Steph Curry and Klay Thompson.

Kerr says all three players will be in the starting lineup.

"When Klay comes back, I would imagine all three of them would start… I don’t think we’ll have a problem.”

With how good Klay is defensively I don't see much of a problem.

Nah, he just says all the right things in front of the media. I bet the plan is to trade Russell down the line when the right opportunity presents itself. At least that's what I would do.

Captain obvious, they don't have a 3 on the whole roster. This is news?

Agreed. Their goal should be to get a couple of starter/bench level guys, to replace the production they had from Iggy/Livingston pre-KD. That's more valuable to them than another scorer like Russell
I'm bitter.

I don't think it is their plan but they'll end up their regardless. Russell just isn't enough of a difference maker.

Curry, Russell, and Thompson start with Green and another big.  That actually isn't all that small.  The question will be how well Russell adjusts to being the 3rd or 4th option and how well he plays D.  If I were Kerr, I would not be worried about this line up either.

Makes sense to me.  The best version of the Warriors this year (and really the best version of any team, pretty much) requires their best players to be able to form a cohesive lineup.  Certainly they’re planning on trying to make that work.  And as they have all three plus Draymond Green Locke’s up for the next several seasons, their plan A in the long-term should be to make it work as well.  Now, if it doesn’t, they can try something different next offseason, as Russell will have a contract that can bring back another max player in return, but for sure they’re goi g to try to make the best with what they’ve got this year.
