How is playing for your country against professional athletes in a competitive competition not better for his development than doing drills and running scrims here in Boston?

Plus it gives you an extra look to see what he his when the game speeds up even more than summer league. This decision is confusing to me but I'm just a shlump sitting in front of my pc on a Friday afternoon :D

File this under things that make you go. Hmmmmmmmmmmmm!! He was cut for some reason or the other. Senegal has traditionally being one of the top basketball teams in Africa. It looks like the 'mutual' agreement story is just spin and damage control.

Reports are currently that he always planned to return to train with the Celtics in an effort to make an NBA roster after his trip to Senegal.  The truth is, with his measurables the Sengalese national team will always be an option for him.  The allure of a pro career is just too great at the moment.

He's done everything he could to make this team from training with a national team, to outplaying Robert Williams in summer league, to dominating practices against Jaylen Brown and Enis Kanter.  Hopefully the personnel department for the Celtics forces this guy onto the roster despite Brad's aversion to legitimate bigs.

The Celtics haven't had practices yet. They can't til training camp.

And he definitely did not outplay Williams in summer league.

I don't remember anything about it either but I remember Kanter saying good things about Tacko.

Now I found the link, but they also won against the team of Tacko/Hayward

Quote
I think they both have the potential to be All-Stars this year. I think they have all of the tools – they’re hardworking guys, they’re willing to learn, they have an amazing character on and off the court and they’re amazingly talented. I think for Jaylen and Jayson the ceiling is, of course, to be All-Stars. With their work ethic and leadership, I definitely think they can take our team to the next level and take us really, really deep into the playoffs.

I’ve already met Jaylen; he’s an amazing guy. We were actually playing two-on-two; it was me and Jaylen Brown against Gordon Hayward and Tacko Fall. It was amazing! I’m definitely very excited to play with those guys.

Williams impressed in the Summer league, but he's the kind of player that may not be so impressive against all the other good bigs in the league. Tacko, on the other hand, is physically dominant--so tall he can reach over everybody else near the basket--and strong enough to keep his position. He stands a better chance against the other bigs in the league--at least inside. Outside is probably more of a challenge for him. Teams will try to keep him away from the basket. It remains for Stevens to utilize these guys in ways which play to their strengths.

Tacko could well make the roster, if only because he seems to be the most popular Celtic right now. And Wyc knows he will sell tickets.  I read that he isn't playing for Senegal because he wants to focus on playing for the Celtics.
