Boy, Boston gets a bad rap sometimes as an undesirable NBA destination, Especially when malcontents like the former scum bag, flat-earth number 11 badmouth us to their pals.

Well, there is a former #11 who still loves our Celtics, and actually helped sway our current #11 here: old friend, ET.

Jay King

@ByJayKing
Give Evan Turner an assist for helping to sell Enes Kanter on Boston. In phone call, ET vouched for people in the organization.

“From the moment that you step on that court,” he told Kanter, “they’re going to love you, treat you like family.”

My story: https://theathletic.com/1082759/2019/07/17/celtics-can-thank-old-friend-evan-turner-for-helping-to-recruit-enes-kanter/
Quote

I am thankful to ET, and IT and AB and Rondo and the numerous ex-Celtics around the league who foster Celtic goodwill, unlike The former #11 and the former #20.

This Athletic article seems like a good read if you get a chance.

I do not have access to it, so TP to anyone who does and can put some quotes from it in this thread.

EDIT:  I wonder if the real reason our current #11 picked that number was because of his pal, the former number 11 .

Just a thought

Does rondo still speak highly of celtics? Not saying he doesn't/hasn't, I just missed stories about it if they were out there. Bradley should have come back this year.

Speaking of #11, story from the New York post says Kyrie thought about going to New York (Brooklyn) as early last last DECEMBER!

This from Spencer Dinwiddie

What about that engagement Ainge was talking about in February?

Remember that time a year ago when IT and Rondo got into an on-court scuffle because of the Celtics?

No this is slipping my mind, can you remind me of this? Rondo said something about not caring about ECF?

I think this is the dustup that was being referred to.  Rondo objected to celebrating a ECF appearance, the C's honoring IT in general, and was just being his salty self.  He didn't need to be such a jerk about the IT thing though.  I guess as you unpack his statements there is still some support for the Celtics in there somewhere.

I still love Rondo, but I wish he wasn't playing for the Lakers.

Rajon Rondo was irked to hear that the Celtics would honor Isaiah Thomas on any night. "What has he done?” Rondo asked. Told that he led the Celtics to the conference finals last year, Rondo remarked, “Oh, that’s what we celebrate around here?”

More Rondo on IT: “This is the Boston Celtics. This isn’t the Phoenix Suns, no disrespect to any other organization, but you don’t hang conference titles. Do we hang going to the conference finals? What do we hang here?”
Title banners, Rondo was told.
“OK, cool,” Rondo said.

TP, blink.....and this sheds even more light onto the subject .

https://bleacherreport.com/articles/2759714-why-does-rajon-rondo-have-so-much-beef-with-isaiah-thomas

Good article on the month-long spat.

IT Suggested that the friction came from the Celtics beating Chicago and Rondos  team during their run to the Eastern conference finals.

Yes, it was this second quote that I remembered, when he talked about “we” when referring to the Celtics.  Although the fight came a few weeks later, I think right around the trade deadline.

I think we may be closing the book too soon on Kyrie and his thoughts about BOS..

He certainly did not leave us on good terms...reportedly quit in the MIL series...unless he comes out and admits this or slanders the team or city verbally I'll wait to get on the Kyrie Hate Train running rampid around here.

Kyrie Irving "TRIED" during the 2017-18 season...the WHOLE TEAM did.

Did they need GH going down gruesomely like he did to play for each other?

Did they all BUY IN to Coach Stevens that season?

etc, etc, etc...

"SOMETHING" went wrong in 18-19...amid the COUNTLESS rumors...."sauces"....he said she said....the team struggled ALL season it seemed.

For ME - I'll wait until the regular season starts and we hear from Kyrie then. I am certain that his first game in BOS (or OUR first game in BKN) will be CHOCK FULL of drama.

I’ll be glad to wager you 10 Tommy points that he does not play in that first Nets game back here.

And in general, you are one of my favorite posters, And I agree with you on many points… Just not here
