Liked this guy when he was drafted, love him now watching him in summer league, his jumper is a thing of beauty and he floats to the basket ala Jordan. Apparently Spurs have been talking him (and Murray) up which is very unlike Spurs.

I am very upset we didn’t get to see a starting five of Aldridge, Gay, Leonard, Walker, Murray at the Spurs.

The clippers could have drafted walker but they chose that guy from BC instead

Yup. As good as the clippers FO has been, they really whiffed on that pick.

They got a nice set of young guards.

Edit: Lonnie Walker. DeJounte Murray. Derrick White. Bryan Forbes. Plus they still have DeRozan and Patty Mills as vets. That has got to be the deepest backcourt in the league.

He clearly has all the athletic tools, and the Spurs definitely know how to develop a players weaknesses

We’ll see.  With SGA gone, Jerome Robinson will have his chance to prove himself this year.  Not being as good as SGA, and thus not getting minutes, does not make him a bust after a single year.

I feel like San Antonio is the only team that I haven’t heard mentioned at all this offseason. For winners or losers. For playoff teams, for bottom teams. Every radio host has talked about their top 8 with 3 or 4 other teams fighting for the 8th spot in the west and haven’t mentioned the spurs. I think they’re gonna be sneaky good. I think they’re a lock for the playoffs in one of the non home court seeds.

Maybe

The knock on him is that he is not very effective off the ball. So so defender

G: DeJounte Murray, Derrick White, Patty Mills
G: DeMar DeRozan, Bryan Forbes, Lonnie Walker, Marco Belinelli
F: Rudy Gay,
F: Aldridge, Marcus Morris, DeMarre Carroll
C: Jakob Poeltl

That is a deep team.

6 deep in the backcourt. Deepest backcourt in the league?
3/4 quality forwards
1/2 big men

Looks like DeRozan and Belinelli will be spending time at SF to allow those guards more playing time. Morris and Carroll getting a lot of PF with Aldridge at C.

They need a good 3rd string center behind Poeltl with Aldridge splitting time between PF and C. Not sure Aldridge will do enough work as a defender & rebounder to play C 100% of the time.

That is a rock solid team. A lot of solid pros there.

Let's see if it translate well in the league first. Not that I doubt the Spurs management but he could be just another solid role player. It's not a bad thing but not the type that can heavily affect the W-L column.

I hope he can be at least close to Kawhi if he fully develops though.
