It’s obvious that both Ainge and Stevens love him and some of his best years were here in Boston. That said, if the plan is to force-feed Romeo, who’s likely not going to be ready to contribute this season, then why not bring back a veteran like Bradley?

David Aldridge-
Per source, they have waived veteran SG Avery Bradley. His 2019-20 salary ($12.9M) would have been guaranteed last Thursday. Memphis will have to pay Bradley his $2M guaranteed for next year.

Marc Stein-
Avery Bradley as a free agent will attract immediate interest ...

Chris Mannix-
Avery Bradley should be a sought after commodity on whatever is left of the free agent market. At 28, Bradley is a solid scorer, a terrific on-ball defender who will shoot mid-to-high 30% from three.

Hell yeah! Bring him home!  8)

(assuming he's willing to sign for the min, cause we cannot offer him more than that)

I’d love to have him back, but he’ll want more money and/or playing time than we can offer.

I get what you are saying.  But, if he finds it hard to find a match for his wants, if it is cheap money and an agreed back up position, why not?  having Bradley and Smart as our back up guards?
sign me up.

It is still weird that we only have (2) guys left on our team right now from that 2016-2017 season...

Let’s not forget that Stevens loves his 3-guard lineups. He would often employ IT, AB, and Smart with really good results. Substitute IT with Walker and it’s the same thing.

Perhaps the allure of playing in Boston, under a familiar system that he will likely again excel in, which would subsequently increase his value, be enough.

I don’t think the playing time will be an issue with the way Stevens, rightly or wrong is another debate, loves going small.

Not sure there is a team that's going to give him that much of either.

While he was one of my faves players then, we have a looooot of smalls. I don’t see how he carves out a role here.

I think he will go to one of the teams that misses out on Kawhi, probably a really good fit next to AD and Lebron. If he isn't signed shortly after Kawhi signs then I think he's absolutely in play at the vet min here.

He's another name that I would add to the list of guys I'd rather have them Wannamaker.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

The Sixers only have Embiid and Simmons left from their 2017-18 season.  Not sure but I don't think Memphis has anyone from more than 2 seasons ago.  There's a lot of turnover because a lot of players have been given 1 year deals and also bad 2016 deals are able to be moved now.

We need a big that gets waived.

Develop the kids, see who has what. Maybe we'll get lucky for once and a young player will develop ahead of schedule.

I can see AB as a veteran presence on a young team with potential, like Chi or Dal

I think the mindset around the league is that stars are what matters - the key is to get those and everyone else is a complimentary part with no real value long term value. There are guys who may potentially turn into stars - there's value there - but once you're pegged as a journeyman, expect to move around a lot because you don't really move the needle for teams.

Bradley/Brown/Smart = defensive trio monster but offense will be abysmal

Bradley being waived this week is not a surprise.  I think if the Celtics were interested in bringing him back, they would have left a spot open for him.

Stars are what matter.  Get your star(s) and then get role players that support them well.  If you have at least shown star potential by your 4th season, you almost certainly never will.
