A mix of injuries and laziness... the early ACL’s slowed down his progression, but the lazy attitude is what did him in.

It’s a shame, he could have been a lot better than he showed. Great times in 2014 when everyone was convinced him and Wiggins were the next big superstars. Smart has proved to be a better pick than both.

Yeah, I mentioned this 6 months ago - where Marcus is in that draft.

Embiid is a clear leader, but Smart could be clear in second by now.

He's supposed to be the next Michael Jordan

I'm really surprised he is unsigned. The potential is still the isn't it? He didn't look unplayable when he was with the bucks

Think you've forgotten a Serbian big fella. I also don't know if Smart is clearly better than Aaron Gordon or Gary Harris, but Smart was definitely drafted in the right spot

Whoa, yep. Could make an argument that he is better than Embiid pretty easy too..

Lazy attitude and can’t play D. Hard pass on him. He’s the exact opposite of building a winning environment.

Last playoffs we ran him off the court a few times by just attacking him every time on offense. He's not a liability all the time but he's a liability enough

Given how fast he's burning through teams, it's not just a physical thing but probably some attitude problems. Maybe not that surprising for a guy who was hyped his whole life.

Someone will grab him sooner or later but man who'd've guessed a year or two ago that Okafor might outlast Jabari in the league?

He has lost a step after all the injuries but he still could be a good nba player. The problem is his mentality. When you are still new in the league and  you try to make a name you cannot say 'I am not payed to play D'

Andrew Wiggins, Jabari Parker, and Joel Embiid.

The draft that was once considered to be the next LeBron James and Michael Jordan. How pitiful that 2 of those 3 become irrelevant.

They always hype the incoming draft class as the latest and greatest comparing this rookie to that player or this player.   The NBA is a hype machine, if you have no figured it out.   ESPN is too.

He has shown little improvement and has a bad attitude. But he is at least past the injuries. He will likely be a bench NBA player the rest of his career and should still be picked up by someone.

Smart looking better and better by the year.

There is this perception that the 6th pick in the draft should be the 6th best player or better, and that metric has always been unfair to GMs. There are always guys picked throughout the 1st (and sometimes the 2nd) round that end up being top-5 from their class. So if the #6 pick nets you a top-5 player, you're definitely ahead of the game.

Sometimes players are never the same after one ACL injury let alone two. It is a shame as I thought Wiggins or Parker would have been in this league for awhile and potential superstars. Nothing is written in stone.
