Recently Jamal Murray and Ben Simmons received max deals...

I mean Tatum and Brown are similar level talent if you ask me, just was "blocked" last season from improving their stats from the prior season

Would you pay Tatum the max? What about Brown?

Now Tatum we don't have to worry for another season.....but just to gauge the situation

If he and Brown were eligible for the max today, would you pay??

If it was today, no. Both have shown flashes but I want consistently great performances before handing out max extensions.

So why did Denver and 76ers doll it out to Murray and Simmons...

We have seen great performances from Tatum, Brown....2 seasons ago when they helped the Celts reach ECF and make it all the way to a game 7

since the team has put its eggs in the 'youth development" basket, I'd say it's likely both of them will barring a significant setback

We will know towards the end of this season.

I agree, it makes sense to wait to see what they've shown in this next season, which is #3 for Tatum and #4 for Brown.

In this cap climate I think I would be comfortable matching any offer in RFA for Brown or Tatum.  Unless there's real concern that they would end up being difficult to trade on their new deal, there's not much reason not to match.  Even Otto Porter's deal was relatively easy for Washington to trade.

No. But I fully expect Ainge to match most offers, barring a star becoming available.

I don't care what Denver and Philly did, I care about the cap management decisions facing the Celtics. Brown and Tatum have shown flashes of brilliance and yes, I'm bullish on their ceilings but it's not unreasonable to want to see those performances more before handing out max extensions. This coming season, both have real opportunities to show us they're capable of becoming stars (deserving of max extensions)... or not.

Jaylen, yes.

Tatum, I need another year first.

Jaylen is definitely getting the 4 year max offer sheet from one of these three teams:
Cleveland , Memphis or Atlanta .
We can add clippers and Toronto depends on who has kawhi or even both if kawhi goes to the lakers.
Danny is in a tough spot right now. He has no idea whether brown is deserving of the max or no.

He put himself in it by having too many guys on the team which was justified by Celtics supposedly competing for a title.

He has a few options:

1 go the Jamal Murray way and give him the 5 yr 170M max ... I’m sure he won’t do that.

2 try to negotiate something below 5 year and the 4 year max -$130M but again over 5 years..  I bet that’s what he will try to do till October .
3 let the market determine his price - the way he did it with smart... that means jaylen will get his 4 yr max and Danny will match but there will be only 2.5 seasons after that before jaylen requests a trade or just decide to leave in free agency.
4. Trade jaylen for a center (Myles turner) or as a part of a package for a star (Beal)

If another teams GM interested in jaylen sense this they might try to take advantage of Danny .

I’m hoping for either option one or option two as the other 2 options means jaylen will get p---ed at Danny

Yes

Tatum is worth is based on potential alone

The perceived value of a player includes potential not must current production

29 other teams would also give Tatum these max, so why wouldn't you

I mean, we're gonna get another year regardless.  He's not extension eligible.

As CelticsElite points out, Tatum is a no-brainer because other teams will value him that way even if the Celts decide they don't.

Agreed

And same for Brown

Between Brown, Tatum, Hayward....something has to give

Hopefully they are all on the same page (try to win a championship) and not after "individual"

Exactly.

Let's see how the season goes, first.

Way too premature to ask the question now.

I think that remains to be seen.
There are two kinds of people: those who say to God, 'Thy will be done,' and those to whom God says, 'All right, then, have it your way.'

You don't have a soul. You are a Soul. You have a body.
