We didn't sell him for a rental. We have him potentially for the next 10+ years and can build around him

He resembles Durant at times and it would have sucked to trade him

I also believe kyrie held him back and was part of the reason he regressed. Remember how amazing he played  his rookie year with rozier or even sugar Shane?

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
If you firmly believe we weren't winning a championship with or without Horford, then you should be pretty happy with how the offseason worked out. We have a legit Kyrie replacement, we drafted three solid rookies while also pushing a 1st over to next year, and instead of paying Al $100M+ over the next four years, we are paying Kanter $5M over the next year or two.

The young guys will finally have their chance to flourish, Hayward should be as good as he is ever going to be, and we actually have tradable contracts to continue to make upgrades. We are in a good place with an opportunity to be in a great place if Tatum can really break out.

Brown too.  Both are likely to be at least Khris Middleton level players, maybe Klay Thompson, maybe better.  You just never know until you know.  Nothing wrong with having those two guys as our young core.  This is a great opportunity for them as the team is now constituted.

I just gave everyone a TP because it’s so refreshing to read a little positivity.

I think I feel as good as I could possibly feel about the team with the understanding that they currently don't have the pieces to be a threat to win the East and it's not clear right now how they would acquire those pieces, unless one of the guys they has now makes a jump.

That sounds negative, but I actually feel pretty good about the team.  I just think we'll all need to be able to find the joy (again) in watching a team that doesn't really have the juice to go farther than the 2nd round.

A team that is fun to watch and exciting on a nightly basis would be a major upgrade over last season, so I'm not complaining.

I have some big picture concerns about how long it could be before the Celts have a guy who is good enough to be the focal point of a title contender, but that's where most teams are at any given point.  There's no use dwelling on it.

We have plenty to be excited about -- Kemba will be fun and watching the Jays develop will be rewarding, I think.

I am going to miss Horford.  It will also be kind of tough anytime a true contender comes to town -- there will be a touch of "Oh, we were supposed to be competing with this team."  But that's all part of it.

I think we have so many question marks

What do we have in Romeo Langford for example? He could be a project, but everyone thought Tatum was some long  term project as well. That's why he was projected to drafted around 6-9tg

Won't mean a thing unless he and Jaylen STEP UP..

No more excuses....can't blame dysfunction on Kyrie..

They will be nearly TWO years away from that magical run in 2017-18....time to replicate it.

Prove to us that it wasn't Big Al.....

They will have EVERY OPPORTUNITY to show off....they will have a willing PG in Kemba, now...one that will be willing to share the load and allow them to grow.

No more excuses.

Tatum was not projected to go 6-9

He was pretty clearly a top 4 prospect

Why can’t we trade Langford, Memphis pick and start for a star that becomes disgruntled
