People are overblowing this. Al disappeared more often than not. When he did show up he certainly was a dynamic player. As he gets older he will be showing up less as the season wears on. This is a reach by Philly and that money is going to come back to bite them.
Also I hear all this talk about what a great leader he will be in Philly and then they needed that. Can someone tell me how great a leader Al Horford was in the Celtics locker room this last year as the team crumbled? I’m not bashing Al he is a good player but now an aging  player with max money going to 38 years old. Let’s not act like Philly just got a top player in their prime here from the Celtics.

Why didn't Ainge pay Horford and cheaped out? Could've been something special with Kemba Walker here.

Now he ends up with a division rival, and arguably the team who will take the East. 76ers is copying the Raptors' blueprints of having size and length.
Because Ainge like a lot of people on here thinks that most players are overpaid..
that’s why he loves draft picks so much - rookie contracts are often underpaying the player.

Eh a guy that wasn’t an all star last year and is entering his mid 30’s. A lot of people outside ainge think that is an overlay, including a lot of Philly fans
There's risk for Philly no doubt, but they are trying to win now. Al's leadership and defense are two things that the Sixers can really use. They are hoping to compete now and are willing to risk that Al will be hugely overpaid at the end of this deal. It's an understandable move for them.

Yea I understand why they did it. And if they didn’t have another option for that money that was more of a shot creator, it is their best move. That being said they committed to 290 million dollars to guys that didn’t make the all star game last year and one of them is 33. That’s intense

You're dead to me, Al.
There are two kinds of people: those who say to God, 'Thy will be done,' and those to whom God says, 'All right, then, have it your way.'

You don't have a soul. You are a Soul. You have a body.

76ers will have 3 7 footers starting

Uh, what? Neither Al nor Simmons are 7’ lol

Still taller than anyone we have in our lineup currently.

TACKO!

No issues with Al leaving. He got a big bag from Philly. Cs made right move by not overextending themselves. Al gets paid and is probably on the most talented roster in the East currently and he’s a shot at a championship. It’s a win/win for him.

Stinks for us though. Al was a class act. Will always be a fan of his.

I can't blame him. We were in a position to retain him if we wanted, it's not like Kyrie where he was determined to leave. Just not willing to pay him $110m, which most people here agreed was the right move. Good luck to Al and thanks for the memories but I hope you don't make new ones against us this season  :P

The mystery team all along was the 76ers.

And here I thought it was the Clippers.

If Leonard goes back to Toronto they are still the favorites. The 76ers went down an all star today and lost their best shooter. Definitely a little worse, but saved themselves from a disaster by getting Richardson and Horford

There is a “glitch” in the Butler-Richardson trade according to sources, as the Heat do not want to give up Derrick Jones and Dallas is telling people the deal is off. Expectation is that the deal is too far down the road to fall apart and will get ironed out.
