I personally have spent a lot of time on this board and elsewhere wondering where are C will come from next season.  Maybe he's already here?  Robert Williams didn't get much PT when he played last year, but he WAS effective - his per36 was 10.3 points, 10.3 rebounds, and 5.1 blocks :o.

Is he ready for prime time now?  If not, what areas of his game need to reach the next level before he starts for us?

When we think of him playing next to Kemba, Hayword, Brown, Tatum, and Smart - what does he lack that we would get if we made a big push for Steven Adams or Nerlens Noel and Kanter or someone along those lines?

No he's not ready, but I hope he gets more chances to learn/grow/play this year.

No.  At most he should be getting 10-15 minutes a night on a decent team.

He might have to be. But I gotta believe Dany has something lined up.

What would someone like Clint Capela bring to the Boston table that Robert Williams doesn't at this point?

No.  At most he should be getting 10-15 minutes a night on a decent team.

A track record of producing and defending at a high level playing significant minutes for a very good team?

If this dude starts he will lead the league in blocks. I keep saying it. Best shot blocker i've seen since Dwight.

Track record means nothing to me.  What skills does he actually bring to the table that Robert Williams doesn't have?  Tatum played big minutes as a rookie because he was skilled, not because he had a track record.  I'm genuinely curious what the basketball experts on the board thing Williams needs to do before he plays big minutes.

So a dude who has barely played a minute of meaningful NBA basketball is suddenly just as good as a 3-time DPOY winner? Give me a break. This feels like the Jordan Mickey hype all over again.

I mean he averaged 1.3 blocks per game in only 8.8 minutes.  Miles turner led the league last year with 2.7 blocks per game.  Gobert has NEVER averaged more than 2.6.

I don't think it's a stretch AT ALL to say that if you triple or quadruple his minutes that he would double his blocks.  And frankly your condescending post that is not grounded in any facts or logic makes you look pretty silly now.

though as part of those 36 per stats, he did average 4.6 fouls.

We don't know if he will be ready, but the Celtics better plan as if he's not going to be ready so that they are prepared. Hope for the best plan for the worst.

true, but i believe in all fairness that the poster was referring to the hype and discussions and projections, not the players themselves.
