As fairweatherfan just mentioned...

Shams Charania @ShamsCharania

Sources: Philadelphia has signed-and-traded Jimmy Butler to Miami, with Heat sending Josh Richardson to the 76ers.

Josh Richardson is a better fit for that Philly team than Jimmy Butler. So while it is a talent downgrade, it is a team chemistry upgrade.

Josh Richardson is perfect to play off of Simmons and Embiid.

What an incredible move by Philly!

I can't believe they got such a talented player in a S&T while losing Jimmy Butler. Way to turn a threat into an opportunity. Their front office deserves major credit for this one. Wow.
Their front office did well but the deal was driven by Butler and Miami wanting each other and Miami being in cap hell.  Sounds like there was little interest from either party in Butler returning as a Sixers.

After listening to Kevin O'Connor on a podcast, it does sound like Richardson is a perfect fit from playing style and personality and team dynamics standpoint, and he's on an excellent contract.  Al is actually a near perfect fit too as an old vet for a young Sixers team.

This is where I scratch my head at the Celtics drafting Langford at #14. Should have taken a big there to at least provide some depth. Now they have none.

I like Danny and think overall he's done a good job but he has killed us many of time with putting no emphasis on bigs! >:(

Let's see how things play out before we make conclusions about the off-season.  The Celtics can't trade any other their rookies until mid-July.  I wouldn't rule out a rookie (or two), future draft picks, and salary filler for an established big man.  Danny might need to overpay in order to make it happen.

Are you mentally prepared for Kawhi to the Lakers?  I’ve accepted it at this point honestly.

Trying to mentally prepare myself for that, for Al to the sixers and for Boston to have a scrub starting big man.

I thought Kyrie and Durant joining forces and I think Kawhi is already wearing Lakers Gold. I am prepared and have been for awhile. Wonder what free agent will join Kawhi and Davis when Lebron finally retires down the road. Hopefully not one of our young budding superstars!

Broussard reporting Kawhi to Lakers wont be only player Lakers get. Iggy being bought out and signing to play with super team might happen as well. Here come the title chasers. Puke! Watch Cousins go there as well for minimum.

Iggy isn't going to be bought out until they spend time trying to trade him after the season starts. Memphis will try to squeeze some value out of him.

Yeah Richardson to defend the 1/2 and play as a role player secondary guy is going to be really good for Philly.

Free agent guard Cory Joseph has agreed to a three-year, $37 million deal with the Sacramento Kings, league sources tell Yahoo Sports.

This means Cauley-Stein will be renounced if he hasn’t been already.

Good evening CBA exhalted one:

What is the most Cs can offer assuming Morris is renounced and no more trades?

The room exception — 2 years, $9.8 million.

If the Kyrie deal can't be arranged as a sign and trade, how much would someone like Morris need to get in a sign and trade to help complete the Kemba deal and keep us above the cap?

The max and then we’d need some more salary even when including Rozier.

Is that due to base year compensation coming into play?
I'm bitter.

I just cant understand why kawhi would want to go to the lakers and be third fiddle to LeBron/AD and coast to a championship when he just won on his own in Toronto.

would be an even more loser move than Durant going to GS...at least he didn't win a championship a year before.

Just thinking about Williams, Yabu and Theis as your front court. That is bad...like historically bad.

Al going to the Sixers after Boston had a chance to get him back is a nut punch.

danny will sign some bigs. maybe Kanter, Looney...we will see.

I don't think the money was close on Al Horford...its a gut punch to lose him. But the sixers are paying a high premium for a player on a contract that will take him until he is 37/38

I am pretty sure it's because even after signing Kemba we'd still be an "under the cap" team, and therefore only have access to the room exception.

Yeah.  Its not like Bosh who was clearly 3rd fiddle to Lebron and Wade.  Don't think Bosh was particularly happy about being 3rd fiddle and we know Ray wasn't with us.  But neither of them were close to being a top 5 players and in the convo for being best player in the league.

This is what drives me crazy: If you're under the cap when you sign someone, you are in effect penalized by only getting the $4.8 exception. But if you are over the cap when you sign/trade for them, you get rewarded with a $9.8 mm exception.  This sounds backwards to me.

Why are  the salary rules structured to penalize a team more for being under the cap?
