Assuming Rozier and Morris do not resign

Needs:

Starting C
Starting PG
Bench or Starting PF

Who do you choose - or what combination of players.

Options

PG  Options
UFA
Kemba Walker + would replace Kyrie's role as #1 option and scorer; - does not leave a lot of money for C/PF position
Rajon Rondo + pass first, would set up offense for the J's and Gordie; + smaller $$$; - been there done that, - can be locker room trouble.
Ricky Rubio + pass first, - injury prone and not great offensively.
Elfrid Payton 
Isaiah Thomas (IT4) - assuming passes physical and agrees to be bench offensive microwave. - been there done that

Are we even limited to this group? Can't the Celtics technically acquire someone at that salary level in a trade without sending out matching salary now?

These are Free Agents that we can sign with cap space. Of course trades can be  made.

I don't know how we can get him, as I think the Dallas Mavericks will just match a reasonable offer that he gets, but man, do I want Maxi Kleber for this team.

6'10" guy who was a solid shot blocker and pick and roll defender, and has hit 35% of he's threes last season for the Mavs. He'd be a terrific PF to have.

I think these three guys are the main FA's most of us are talking about going after assuming Kyrie and Horford both leave. And we should have 20M in cap space with them leaving, and probably even more if we also let all of Rozier, Morris and Theis walk.

My personal hope is to sign one of those 3, then trade 1 draft pick for a future asset. Use the other 2 picks on Draft Night. The with the MLE and Bi-Annual Exceptions, add 2 more players and roll with that team for next season We won't be true title threats obviously, but I think that team could still be good enough to be Top-5 or even Top-4 in the East (a lot could still depend on what other East teams do or don't do). Plus it would continue to allow our young core to improve and progress.

But I'm curious, who do you guys prefer of these 3, or do you have someone else in mind? Or should we just not bother and just tear it all down and/or don't use most of the cap space.

I like Russell, but if we could get either Vucevic/Randle to bolster our front court I'd love that. Then hopefully add a guard during the Draft or using the MLE on someone.

I’d go for Adams. When you consider timeline, positional need, our weaknesses vs his strengths and the fact that his contract can be used as a nice expiring very soon then you have all the boxes ticked

That is where I am at right now.  He fits well with our 4 best players and allows us to start the wing trio - Smart-Brown-Tatum-Hayward-Adams.

He isn't a malcontent, he won't complain about touches, he sets hard screens for the PnRoll, he is a good defender. He will be an asset when his contract is up.
