This is unsurprising but would have been much more enjoyable for me to read yesterday. Losing Al means I just don’t care.
Also, in terms of free agents in their mid-20s who are seeking a lot money but might not quite be max-level players, I’d like Tobias Harris’ fit on this team in a post-Al world. I’m a Middleton fan, but he’ll just exacerbate the problem of minutes and touches for our guards and wings. Harris is a power forward and a decent distributor from that spot. Wouldn’t be the same as Al, but could fit into some of that role a bit better. Turning 27 in July, he’s a better age profile for when Brown and Tatum reach their peaks.
We can’t give him a max, and I’d pass if he can actually get that contract, but for the $25-27 million that we should pay Al but aren’t, I would be interested.
