If The Celtics are just going young next year is Robert Williams our starting center? I think he should be.

Sure why not. Nothing to really lose.

I think he'll come off the bench. Significant role (similar to Baynes' last season in terms of MPG)
'23 Historical Draft: Orlando Magic.

PG: Terry Porter (90-91) / Steve Francis (00-01)
SG: Joe Dumars (92-93) / Jeff Hornacek (91-92) / Jerry Stackhouse (00-01)
SF: Brandon Roy (08-09) / Walter Davis (78-79)
PF: Terry Cummings (84-85) / Paul Millsap (15-16)
C: Chris Webber (00-01) / Ralph Sampson (83-84) / Andrew Bogut (09-10)

If he is he'll be the most hated player on these boards by New Year's.

Starting line up:

Smart
Brown
Hayward
Tatum
TIMELORD

That's a fun team to watch.

I bet he won't even make it on time on game day.

As much as I want to see that happen, just for the fun of it, if Baynes is here, he probably starts over Timelord.  But Timelord will become a magical unicorn of blocked shots and throw down dunks during his 15-20 min a game he gets next year.

Why the hell not.  I don’t get these Celtics coaches that don’t play the players they draft

The roster will probably look very different in a few months.  We don't yet know if Danny is committing to the youth movement, or if he has some moves in mind to keep us competitive.  So we'll see.

If we're going young, then Williams probably backs up Baynes while playing 20-25 minutes per night.  If we still expect to make deep playoff runs, then I doubt Williams will be on the team on opening day.  He's probably one of our most tradeable assets (enough value to entice other teams, not enough for the Celtics to lose sleep over giving him up).

It already looks quit different.

He is not a tradeable asset. He's a project - just like every NBA team has projects at the end of their bench.  Granted they thought enough of him to take him late in the first round, but he has 2 NBA skills right now - he dunks and he can block shots.  Also has a good motor apparently.

However, he's clueless about how to play NBA team defense and has no offensive moves at all - let alone even one 'go to' move that he can score with consistently.  Try to play half-court offense with him and he's a liability.  Basically you're playing 4 on 5 and hoping he can get an offensive rebound for you.

More than likely around the time he finally develops to a point where he may be able to contribute regularly, he'll be a free agent and they'll have developed him for another team - which is the risk with drafting any center who can't come in and play immediately.

Nah, baynes.

I wouldn't say the most hated...probably the most frustrated.
