  • I'm a Paul Heyman guy.
You keep him, especially if he is willing to take a cap friendly deal.

Missing out on Anthony Davis doesn't mean we can't make improvements along the way. You want to make sure the team is strong when that happens, and Al makes us a strong team.

Horford said he will wait and see what Ainge does this offseason. We might have to Send him to the rockets or something now

Now the capela rumor makes Sense

Yeah I think trading for Capela would make a lot of sense, if horford is down.

I think the Rockets want assets on top of that and I'm not willing to give them that, since Capela isn't that special. We can grow our own Capela with Williams or one of our draft picks (Fernando or Gafford). We have time now, it will take a couple of years before the Celtics will make serious noise again. Unless you get the opportunity to trade for an upcoming star (very unlikely) like Fox, Booker, Collins or Towns we should keep our picks and assets and use them as a spread gun to find a gem.

To all those who want to keep Horford....that makes no sense to me. He is about to turn 33, a full decade older then the guys we are building around. Hes at an age were every season you expect him to get about 5-10% worse. He isnt gonna be part of the next celtics championship, in my opinion you have to try and use him to gain assets that fit the timeline better. That could be a opt in and trade, a sign and trade, whatever. Capela makes a lot of sense.

In any event is isnt completely up to us, he can opt out and choose were he goes. Plenty of teams can offer him max or near max money and probably would, but if he wants to go to a true competitor we should help facilitate that.

If they want another asset, I would offer one of our picks this year (20 or 22) in exchange for their pick next year (top 20 or 25 protected for a couple years before becoming 2 seconds). That gives the Rockets an asset now, and helps us kick the can down the road another year or two
I'm bitter.

We want Al because:

- He provides locker room leadership, veteran presence and cohesiveness in the team. Something the young guys should learn and emulate. Kawhi learned from Timmy, Rondo from KG, etc.

- His cap space can used later for upcoming free agent once his contract expires. Remember when we "overpaid" Amir Johnson?

keep him rested for the playoffs.   But if he asks to leave for a contender, then trade him to the Western contender of his choice to prevent Laker's championship.

a Re-configured Horford, Yabusele and pick 51 (denver has no picks so yahoo) for Gary Harris, Plumlee, Juan Hernangomez

Murray,
Beasley, Barton
Craig, MPJ
Horford, Millsap, Yabu
Jokic, Horford

Imagine Denver's passing with Horford and Jokic.  Plus reunite Al and Millsap.

Smart, Larkin/Edwards
Harris, Herro
Brown, Hayward, Ojeleye
Tatum, Hernangomez, Kabengele
Baynes, Kabengele, Plumlee, RWJ

Horford to Rockets...
Horford to Thunder...
Horford to Trailblazers...

Horford is still a great player, you keep him healthy for playoff run next year.  We are still a playoff team, and I think will play more up tempo the way Brad wants to, similar to Toronto style.

Don't want Gary Harris. He's just an overpaid role player. He'll be a burden on our payroll. Plumlee is okay for a year, but with Baynes staying also not someone we need. Hernangomez has been surprisingly disappointing in his three years in Denver.
This deal would be a slam dunk for Denver, although I'm not sure how they'd keep Millsap and Horford satisfied with one of them having to come from the bench.

C’s unlikely to deal for Clint Capela, and haven’t spoken with #Rockets  about him.

Celts’ optimism Kyrie Irving will return is deteriorating.

What's the point in making the playoffs only to exit in the 1st round.

Celts are better off cashing in on Horford now while he still has value.

What's worse than being a lottery team is being a middle of the pack team.

Just look at the Miami Heat right now.

It would really suck if the best case scenario for the Celts is just to be fighting for the 8th seed for the next few years.

If he wants to let Al end his career in Boston. He's a really good player and is the perfect guy to mentor our young players.

If he wants to leave then try to work a trade to add a big like Capela to replace him.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

Maybe a opt-in and trade similar to what Chris Paul did. We could do something like Horford for Evan Turner, Meyers Leonard and Zach Colins. Turner and Leonard are both expiring's so it doesn't kill us cap wise, while Collins is a nice mobile center with developing 3 point stroke and entering his age 22 season. Former number 9 pick fits our timeline. Maybe we could get a pick too.

I'm kinda torn.

On one hand, I like Horford and his steady production.

On the other hand, he's not getting any younger and I wouldn't mind a younger, more athletic power forward.

Bingo!

The championship window for the Celts has closed.

Horford is not a priority anymore.

There's just no point in Horford playing for a rebuilding team like the Celts.
