Bulpett is literally the only guy saying he is considering he stays.   Boy, I miss the days when players did not want drama, these days they like to stoke it and be the center of attention.  I think this is what is happening here, Kyrie is giving false hope to the fans he think turned on him.

Kyrie and Davis need to sit down together, without agents, and decide if they want to play together.
I say they already have..
C/PF-Horford, Baynes, Noel, Theis, Morris,
SF/SG- Tatum, Brown, Hayward, Smart, Semi, Clark
PG- Irving, Rozier, Larkin

I couldnt care less anymore.

Give me the youth movement and keep going towards that. I firmly believe that building around the Jays will result in a championship.

I am not confident that building around Davis and Kyrie with Hayward and Horford will bring one.

So basically, Bullpett is saying Kyrie could walk and AD could be a one-year rental.  Thanks a lot.  :(

The only off court drama that bothered me regarding Kyrie this past season was due to his contract. For me, this is an NBA problem and had nothing to do with Kyrie. Why should the timing of signing a new contract effect the amount of money and years a player can sign for? It has too much of a trickledown effect on how a team conducts business. I think it should be changed up, where a player is eligible for that extra year and higher percentage increases per season, if the player agrees to an extension before the final year his contract expires.

Some of these max/supermax contracts are so high now, that it could cripple teams that do sign these types of players. See John Wall for example. A player of this caliber is/was deserving of a max contract. It may be time to change how matching salaries in a trade should work going forward for players with max/supermax contracts. For teams trying to trade for a max player, change it to only having to match 85% of the salary. For a supermax player, adjust it to 80%.

I like our young players as much as the next guy, but there are still a lot of questions about how good they will be. At this point a team with Kyrie, AD, Gordon, and Al is much more likely to compete for a championship and it’s not even close.

I would be totally satisfied with the following taking place:

1. Kyrie resigns.
2. Celtics trade Jaylen Brown + Marcus Smart + Guerschon Yabusele + Robert Williams + Memphis Pick for Anthony Davis.

Starting Five

Kyrie Irving
Gordon Hayward
Jayson Tatum
Anthony Davis
Al Horford

Bench
Aron Baynes
Daniel Theis
Semi Ojeleye
Sign Vet swing to replace Marcus Morris (Carmelo Anthony??)
Sign vet ball handler to replace Terry Rozier (Patrick Beverley??)
End of Bench: Draft Picks

It's crazy how many view points we have as a fan base on the direction we want the Celtics to go it.  I will be honest that I am torn.  This season was a nightmare.  I am a huge sports fan but the Celtics are by far my number one team out of any sport and I do not miss games.  My head tells me that there is no way the Celtics are winning a championship with the Jays, Al, Smart, Rozier Gordon etc.  My heart tells me that if the C's resign Kyrie and Trade for Davis they will be in position to win but I'm not sure if that is a Celtic team that I can love.  If feels more like hiring mercenaries then a Celtic team.  My head says we watch sports to root for our team to win.  My heart tells me that I miss the fight that the Celtics have had over the last few years.  The underdogs that over performed and played as a team.  It was fun basketball.  They were never out of a game no matter how much they were down.  This year if they were down 10 it felt like it was over.  It felt like the team quit at a lot of times and did not have any fight.  It wasn't fun.  I've turned off more games this year then ever before because there was only so much fun watching Kyrie dribble a ball for 22 seconds.  When I watch the C's and they move the ball from side to side, inside/outside and knock defenders off of their feet because they can't keep up that is Celtics basketball.  If we get Davis and Kyrie the team will be good again on paper but what will the product on the court look like.  Will it be fun?  Will it be a team that is easy to root for?  This is why I'm torn.  We don't have cap space.  We don't have high picks to get top end talent.  It seems it's one or the other and right now I'm leaning towards watching the Jays for the next 10 years and hope to hit on some of these picks.  Winning is the ultimate goal and I never felt the team could win a championship without Kyrie and now I'm asking do I want to watch a team win a championship with Kyrie.  It's not that I do not like Kyrie.  It's just that not all players are Celtics.  Kyrie doesn't seem to truly have a heart of a Celtic.  He is amazing and I loved watching him play.  I just want to see Celtic basketball again.

That’s a great point. I was not talking about which team we might like better, but rather which is more likely to compete for a championship. We might like the younger team better but I can’t see how one could think it has a better chance to compete for a championship right now.

Thanks Birdman. Right back at you! Melo could be a good glue guy and give us 15mpg. He also has close ties to AD and KI from Team USA.

I feel sorry for Melo. He was obviously not the issue in OKC, as they are the exact same team without him (cough, Westbrook, cough) and I think he has stuff left in the tank. Whether he'd like to start ring-chasing is something I don't know, but he's still one of the more difficult to guard swings in isolation.
'23 Historical Draft: Orlando Magic.

PG: Terry Porter (90-91) / Steve Francis (00-01)
SG: Joe Dumars (92-93) / Jeff Hornacek (91-92) / Jerry Stackhouse (00-01)
SF: Brandon Roy (08-09) / Walter Davis (78-79)
PF: Terry Cummings (84-85) / Paul Millsap (15-16)
C: Chris Webber (00-01) / Ralph Sampson (83-84) / Andrew Bogut (09-10)

No he's not, he was mediocre in isolation his last two years.

58th Percentile the last two years at .89 Points per Possession

He was also bad overall on offense with poor true shooting despite getting a steady diet of easy looks. Still a ball stopper and gummer up of your offense with no passing to speak of.

Then you consider that he actively is an open sore on defense and the glass that is attacked on every position? Not a NBA player anymore.

TP to you sir.  My thoughts exactly.  I'm torn between watching C basketball (pass 10 times every possession, run baby run, tough D) vs. Hero Ball.  Actually I'm NOT "torn".  I hate Hero Ball.  I want Kyrie and AD but I'm afraid I won't get C-Ball with them.  This year has been the least fun for me in 50 years of watching.  This was a terrible season.  Not because of the record but because it sucked to watch them.
