Team should stay with the young guys and continue down that path.

So this allows for Al to opt in and make lots of money still, and go to a championship contender team, who is going to sign, most likely, a superstar this offseason.

http://tradenba.com/trades/HJZSrszR4

The basis of the deal is improving LACs draw for luring Leonard or Durant and improving Bostons PG rotation while maintaining cap flexibility.

LAC gets Horford and their own pick back.
Boston gets SGA, Gallinari and the miami 2021 pick

deal would leave LAC sitting at 58 million in committed, non guaranteed and qualifying offers.

Adding Leonard at 37 million will bring team up to 95 mill in payroll.
resign Beverley at 6 mill per
Sign Leonard's good buddy Danny Green at 8 mill per.
use Room MLE to sign another bigman

Beverly/Shamet
Green/louWill
Kawhi/McGruder
Horford/Harrell
Zubac/MLE/

For Boston, losing Al hurts, but its nice to see him go win a Championship.

Adding Shai lessens the blow alot as he is a perfect PG to grown beside Brown and Tatum. Long, tall, solid at everything, only 20 years old. Would come behind Smart off the bench to start the year most likely, but will eventually take over starting.

Adding Gallinari adds a floor spacing high scoring pf who is a massive expiring that can be shopped throughout the season for a better longterm front court player.

The Miami pick is another valuable future asset.

not taking draft picks into consideration, and potential re-signings, or potential additional trades (Hayward)

Smart/Shai/Wannamaker
Brown/Hayward
Tatum/Semi
Gallinari/Yabusele
Baynes/Williams

That's a very high price to pay for one year of Horford. To even make it a remotely competitive trade the Miami pick must be removed. Arguably you should be adding one of our top picks to go the other way as well.

Not even sure that makes them a better team than simply keeping SGA and Gallinari and going after a Tier 1 FA

Why in gods name would LAC do this??

Gallo is a 20/6 wing in Doc's system, and SGA is clearly one of Doc's favourite rookies in quite some time. No way do they want to mess with that back-court.

Plus they have two young centers in Montrezl and Zubac

Ha - we're not getting for Horford. That is what LAC is offering for Anthony Davis!

Gotta bring those expectations way way down.

And it's one of the headline packages in the NBA as well!

Yeah, that's pretty much the AD package. I would love to have SGA on the Cs, but his stock has gone infinitely up over the past couple of months to the point where he is considered on a similar asset tier to Tatum. I don't really agree with this, but that's not really for me to decide.

  • I'm a Paul Heyman guy.
There's absolutely no way Jerry West and the Los Angeles Clippers will do this deal.

LAC is getting ripped off here.

As is the case with most trade proposals on here.  Most people think other organizations are incompetent.

well I guess I value Horford more than most on here

Shai is an OK rookie.
Gallinari has been injured in his career more than not, in 10 years has played over 60 games 4 times. I just cannot see him being as effective, even if healthy, with someone like Kawhi on the team taking the highest level of usage.

It really boils down to if Clipper would rather Horford or Shai and Gallinari to pair with Leonard.

I would pick Horford 10/10 times. But perhaps I am missing something.

Al's a nice player, but I think if I'm putting pieces around Leonard, I'd prefer Shai and Gallo.

Shai has already shown he can be a difference maker on the defensive end and he's only 20. He can play a valuable role right now and be a great trade chip down the line.

Gallo is a 46%FG / 43% 3FG / 90% FT shooting big and doesn't necessarily need the ball in his hands to be effective. Funny enough, he and Al played the same amount of games this year.

SG: OG Anunoby/Norman Powell/Matisse Thybulle
SF: Gordon Hayward/Demar Derozan
PF: Giannis Antetokounmpo/Robert Covington
C: Kristaps Porzingis/Bobby Portis/James Wiseman

My suggestion for a Horford-to-a-contender trade would be a S&T of Horford @ approx $20 million per year to the Rockets for Capela.

Implausibility of the trade aside, Al is no closer to winning a title with that team than he was here.

The Clips are working to get enough cap space to sign 2 FAs. They aren't muddying that water by trading for Al.

The value of the player is not just in his skill but also in the contract. Al would have one year left, not 5. He's also on the wrong side of 30.

Further, it is a trade package that is being rumoured for AD. And one of the top ones at that. Unless you think Horford is as valuable as AD?

You also included the Miami pickz not just SGA and Gallo. That pick is like one of the Brooklyn picks. Miami is in cap hell and has little chance of improving over the next few years, they're a bubble playoff team. There's a good chance that's a top 10 lotto pick. Take that out and it's at least a plausible trade, though I still think they don't do it.
