Clint Capela is the intriguing player here. Looking through my green colored glasses, I'm more interested in seeing how this can help the Celtics.

With all the talk of trading for Davis, could Danny quietly try to work out a three way trade and acquire Karl-Anthony Towns instead? I think Davis is the better player, but Towns is about to enter into his new 4 year max extension. It would take the sting away of losing some really good young players, knowing the player you acquire will be here for more than one year.

Boston – Karl-Anthony Towns
Minnesota  - Capela, Brown, Memphis pick
Houston – Tatum
(Principles only - ESPN trade machine not updated)

Then again, does New Orleans prefer to get another quality big man to help protect Zion Williamson? Maybe substitute New Orleans instead, and adjust trade from Boston's side to give less due to Davis only having one year remaining on his deal.

Towns would be my favorite get of all.

so, houston gets tatum for capela?

Just look at the assets the Celtics gave away and see if that return is good. You looking at it the way that you are will just over complicate the trade.

Celtics got rid of Tatum and Brown + Grizz Pick, in return for Towns. Are you ok with that?

My dream is to someday have a big 4 of Harden, Irving, Smart, and AD.

I'm okay with doing PG-13/Irving and AD also. But a man can dream..

If Kyrie leaves and Rozier is waived maybe Danny can trade Hayward for Paul?
He should try to get Houston to sweeten the deal with a 2022 unprotected pick

I don't hate this, in fact the more I think about it, it kinda matches up perfectly for both teams. Houston has struggled to find a SF and Boston might need a point guard. Stevens would get a pass-first veteran leader to run his offense and be able to keep the young guys rather than trade for Davis. But I only see it worth it if you get that future unprotected first round pick.
It actually makes some sense, but I can't stand Chris Paul

I'd actually rather sign and trade Kyrie to Houston (if he'd wanna go there to play with Harden) and get CP3 back in return along with two future firsts (like 2021 and 2023).

The fact that the Rockets make out like bandits in this "trade" should tell you that someone is getting robbed. It looks like a pretty fair return for the Celtics, but the Wolves are getting absolutely shafted (and that might be an understatement)

Getting Brown, Capela, and a future pick for a franchise player that hasn't expressed a desire to leave and has 5 years left on his deal is an embarrassingly bad return
I'm bitter.

No to giving up Smart and picks for Capela!

I'd rather add Capela with Hayward, Tatum and Baynes for Capela, Gordon, Tucker, and a future unprotected Houston first.

I don't see Towns as a franchise player.  At least not a franchise player on a championship contender.  However, you're correct that Minny is getting a poor return.  Tatum would need to go to Minny and Brown to Houston for starters to make the trade more even.

I wonder how much longer Mike D'Antoni will stay in Houston.

I have never liked D'Antoni as a coach. I think in a lot of ways, he is the problem with that team. D'Antoni loves offense and gave Harden free reign to do whatever he wanted and, long term, I think that's why this team can only go so far as currently constituted.

Houston had a superstar in CP3 and yet relegated him to be nothing more than a glorified 3&D role player. D'Antoni should have sold Harden on having more of a playing dynamic like LeBron and Kyrie had in Cleveland rather than Paul being just another kickout option for Harden when he drives.

Haha Capela would be a useless player if he played for CBS. Can he shoot the 3 or a mid-j? He isn't getting on the court. I get CBS will have to play him but it would not be as good as he did with the rockets. Celtics, where most bigs come to die.
It takes me 3hrs to get to Miami and 1hr to get to Orlando... but I *SPIT* on their NBA teams! "Bless God and bless the (Celts)"-Lady GaGa (she said gays but she really meant Celts)

How do you figure?  He put up an impressive 16.6 points and 12.7 rebounds in 34 minutes per game on a Houston team that averaged 10 more 3 point attempts per game than the Celtics.  It never hurts to have a solid roll man even on a 3-point bombing team like Houston.

Also, unless the Timelord develops a consistent midrange and/or 3 point shot then he's not going to see the court and will end up being a useless first rounder?  I don't buy that.  He's not Capela but he has similar limitations.

At least Time Lord is working on a shot. Capela is no where near as good as his stats suggest. You can legit look up his highlights and see the MASS majority of his shots were wide open dunks. Harden and Paul draw so much attention that he’s just wide open. To be honest it even looks like it’s part of teams strategy to leave him open, because he can’t score unless he’s dunking.
