LOL, think about what you are saying first.  Thwart the 76ers... BUT make LA Lakers a LOT better by enabling Kahwi and Lebron on the same team.  This is called cutting your nose to spite your face.  Utterly a bad idea that backfires in your face if you give it just 30 seconds of extra thought.

On top of that from a pure talent perspective, Ball is a much WORSE prospect for the Celtics than Jaylen Brown.  I'd rather lose Rozier for nothing in 2 years time than give up Brown for Ball.

I don't think I'd pursue it, but in theory:

MEM19, Morris, Yabusele, Nader to LAL
Ball, LAL20 to BOS

Follow-up trade, Rozier for a 1st rounder.

So we'd swap Rozier for 4 years of control of Ball, and he can backup Kyrie this year. We swap MEM19 for 2 future 1st rounders in 2020 or later. Makes sense as we don't really have room for multiple 1st rounders next summer. Also saves us a couple million in cap room.

Letting the aging James battle against Houston and GS just to get to the finals isn't a bad idea.  I'm just not getting the need to bring on Ball in order to accomplish it, unless it's an absolute no-brainer of a trade, and that means no high end prospects and no high potential draft picks (i.e. Grizzlies or Kings picks).

Ball can still be very good.  He’s arguably a better prospect that brown.  Balls dad is crazy.  These are not the issues.

The issue is that I don’t want anymore young players.  We’ll eventually need to consolidate assets, not keep getting younger.
LOL what?

LA is trying to trade Ball for a decent pick and no takers. I doubt we'd have that issue with Brown.

Here is where Lonzo fits in.  The Lakers can currently offer Kuzma and Ingram to the Spurs.  The Spurs want another top asset, but reportedly have zero interest in the Ball circus.  Do you help LAL by giving them something else of high value to offer the spurs in exchange for Ball?

That's an interesting idea. I have to say that  the reports coming out suggest the C's are interested in Leonard and have made an offer.

Putting this aside, what would the top asset we can offer to the Lakers be? I wouldn't move Brown or Tatum for Ball.

But Rozier for Ball I would do.

Not at all crazy.  Ball averaged 10-7-7.  That’s pretty [dang] good and I think his shooting will pick up.  I’m guess there are still plenty of people that would take ball over brown.  I’m not saying I would but it’s not crazy.

Outside of Lakers fans there really arent. In terms of national level NBA evaluators from what I've heard the consensus is that Brown is a better prospect than Ball, many even prefer him over ingram. Im talking guys like Nate Duncan, Zach Lowe, Sam Vecenie. I havent heard one podcast say Ball would be the preferable peice in a Kawhi package.

R u drunk ?

LOL.  Not yet.

But let's compare rookie stats to examine Ball's potential.  Because the OP is thinking like a GM, despite the fact that Ball is a player the Lakers want to keep. And for good reason.

Westbrook
82
32.5 mpg   15.3 ppg  39.8 FG %  27.1 3pt %  4.9 ast.  5.3 reb 1.3 Stl

Harden
76
22.9 mpg 9.9ppg  40.3 fg % 37.5 3pt %   3.2 ast. 1.8 reb  1.1  Stl

Paul
78
36.0 mpg 16.1ppg 43.0 fg %  28.2 3pt% 5.1 ast 7.8 reb 2.2 stl

Ball
52
34.2mpg   10.2ppg    36.0 fg %  30.5 3pt %   6.9 ast 7.2 reb  1.7 stl
I don't get it? We should acquire someone worse than those 3 in their rookie years whilst giving up someone good? I think we're confusing what a good GM does....

So outside of discussions on Celtic boards, I’ve yet to find a single bit of information where the two are even compared (lists included).  Haven’t heard a comparison either.  So I find it interesting that you have enough information to form a consensus.

Indeed, the only place I know comparisons exist are on the Carmelo projections.  Call them trash (and maybe they are) but show me something else.
