If there's any truth to it, the Celts are sunk.

And not only does it mean Thomas was gonna be out for much of the season all along, it now means we've burned the bridge with Crowder as well.

Fantastic.
Oh my God

How will we ever move on with an upset Jae Crowder

I'm not too worried about Crowder, he might resent Danny, but I don't think he would give less effort. These guys don't play so much for the organization or the fans as they do for their teammates. Moreover, it's in his interest to play his best, he could be in line for a big raise if he continues to be a quality two-way player, if he sulks and pouts it will cost him come free agency.

Sounds like fake news to me. Perfect opportunity for media to stir the pot in a dull NBA pre-season.

Doctors are doctors--Boston or Cleveland. MRIs don't change. Probably a question of how much time hip takes to heal. Gilbert knew the score, and IT is a rental. That won't prevent him from trying to squeeze another draft pick out of Ainge.

This is all just a play to get the number one threat to the Cavs in the east out of the way before the season even starts.  Why would these two teams even deal in the first place as it (was) even more likely than last year these would be the ECF teams.

I think if we were dealing with mosy anyone else this wouldnt have gone down like this.  Big mistake to deal with the Cavs and they have plenty of incentive to position the Celtics as poorly as possible prior to start of season.

Labral tears aren't career ending. Surgery and 4-6 months of rehab, he should return to sport at the same level as pre-injury. Source: I work in a physical therapy office. We see athletes from the NCAA, NBA, MLB, NFL and NHL regularly.

They're clickbaiting.

Good input.

In addition to the labral tear, there is significant femoral/acetabular impingement.

He's been playing with FAI his whole life.

.

Yes, but it seems to mean that he will have increasing risk of labral tears and lingering pain etc as he ages.

That combined with his height makes his prognosis for playing in his current role very far into the future foggy at best.

There are two very different things going on with the hip.  The first is the chronic condition known as femoral acetabular impingement or FAI.  This is the core issue with IT.  It relates to the shape of his hip ball or cam.  This cannot heal but can be repaired with pretty serious surgery as I understand it.

The other issue is a tear (as is being reported) to his hip labral cartridge (labrum).  If this is as reported, it can be treated in a number of ways including surgery but this is much less intrusive surgery than surgery to repair the core condition FAI.  FAI and the wear and tear of an NBA season likely led to the Labral tear so these are related but very different.  (I think this was originally reported as Labral inflammation, not a tear so this seems to be the new news).

So when it is being thrown out that "IT needs surgery", it has to be more specific as to which surgery.  I am not a doctor, I just have been doing some surfing to understand this better but I don't think surgery to repair the Labral is all that serious and would not threaten the whole season.  The FAI surgery on the other hand is serious but IT has played his entire career (his whole life for that matter) with the condition.

Here is a summary of treatment options for torn Labral from Mayo Clinic:

Treatment choices will depend on the severity of your symptoms. Some people recover with conservative treatments in a few weeks, while others may require arthroscopic surgery to repair or remove the torn portion of the labrum.

I'm not seeing what the OP is talking about being reported anywhere else at all. Nothing really like that at all. Seems made up.
