I don't care what the Cavs say about IT .  ....they knew he was hurt.

at the end of the day ...they need to move their disgruntled player and get value they can

and they have NO offer on the table I heard of for more than Nets pick , Crowder and Zizic .

If Thomas was totally perfectly healthy  , then Cavs would NOT be getting Nets pick....and two other decent players .   Thats a crazy overpay.

The deal was for damaged  player with issues and not much current value as such.

Cavs are the ones with backs against the wall.....fine don't take Thomas , the deal is the same .....show me a contract for a better deal Mr Cav GM.

Surgery should have already been done months ago. No way he makes it through the season with just resting it. He will be shutdown at some point.

If Boston has to take him back, I do not think we will see him be a significant player here ever again..regular season or playoffs. He will not get a big deal from anyone.

"Won't play ever again, or will only play 6 months after surgery" is about the most ridiculous way you could possibly put it.

The same is true of any ACL tear, right? Are we hearing that Julian Edelman will "never play another down in the NFL, or will only play 8 months after surgery"? No, because that would be completely ****g absurd.

He needs surgery in their opinion. It may or may not torpedo the deal, but that's what it is.

The NBA could put this type of problem to bed forever by making a NEW RULE that before a trade is announced all the players involved must 1ST take and PASS a physical by the team they are going to.,Once that teams  doctors are sure the players are good to go ,Then and only then can the teams announce the trade was made!! :o

I'm kind of not surprised. I remember back just after he was shut down in the ECF there were estimates going around that said if surgery was needed it could be a 6-9 month recovery, putting the beginning of the regular season in jeopardy. It seems to me that maybe the Celtics and Thomas have been trying really hard to push off surgery because a) Thomas wont get paid if he misses the season and b) He has no value to the Celtics, trade or playing wise, if he's out. Now another team is looking at the medicals and saying "Ummm, he needs surgery."

That might be a good idea, but once players start traveling to take medical exams it would be difficult to keep things quiet. At that point you would have lots of reports about a trade swirling for days before an official announcement. That would be another type of problem.

That is wildly impractical to expect in the information age.

Boston is in a real spot if this is shutdown and Thomas is sent back. Looking at missing more than a little time.

Puts Rozier  :-\ in the starting line up with Larkin going from a guy maybe not making the team to a back up. Boston would have little or no production from that position.

I think Smart would be our starting PG, not Rozier.

Even if he can no longer walk I still tell the Cavs to take it or leave it

If there's any truth to it, the Celts are sunk.

And not only does it mean Thomas was gonna be out for much of the season all along, it now means we've burned the bridge with Crowder as well.

Fantastic.

Horrific trade to begin with. Now just gets worse. Honestly im perfectly fine trading Crowder for a PG and letting IT walk away. I just want Zizic and the Nets pick back. Please please..

They leave it, trade Kyrie to Phoenix. Or just keep him. Shrug

I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

DA mentioned during his conference call after the trade was announced that IT might not be able to start the season on time. They surely notified the Cavs of this timeline. The MRI, unless came back as bad as JE11's knee, was scheduled for early September so the Cavs pushed this up knowing the doctor's follow-up shouldn't be moved up by couple of weeks. It does make a difference as far as timing goes. The NBA need approve this trade or if Kyrie gets traded elsewhere tampering charges is something the C's could look into, if another team has been in contact and offering something "healthier" in return if only the Cavs would fail IT's physical and negate the trade.
