Seems like coaching staff wants him more aggressive and attacking closeouts-he missed a few but a welcome addition to a too passive Semi

he needs to learn to pass the ball back when hes deciding to drive the ball and nothings there.  Theres a few times where he just seems to want to put his head down and barrel into the defenders at the basket

It’s good that he started blowing to the rim.  He easily gets by his man.  He made one lucky shot on a drive the other day but for the most part looks totally lost and overwhelmed when he does attack the basket.  His feel for the game and IQ in these situations is severely lacking at this point.  Hopefully he learns to slow the game down in his head in these situations.

I think people need to be aware how much of an athletic freak Semi really is folks.

Semi Ojeleye SF-SG
Heightw/o shoes 6' 5.25''
Heightw/shoes   6' 6.75'
Weight               241.4
Wingspan          6' 9.75''
Standing reach   8' 6"
Body Fat %         5.5
Hand length        8.75"
Hand Width         9.5"

http://www.nbadraft.net/2017-nba-draft-combine-measurements

The body fat for his build is astounding.

Here are the results of his combine testing:

Lane Agility Drill score    10.58   3rd in the 2017 Combine.

Standing Vertical Leap  35"     3rd in the 2017 Combine.

Max Vertical Leap    40.50"    5th  in the 2017 Combine.

3/4 Court Sprint   3.16 10th in the 2017 Combine.

Ainge got him a big and strong guy who is an athletic freak of the highest nature.

Ojeleye’s 40.5-inch vertical leap tied for tied for fifth among the 55 players tested. He tied for eighth in a sprinting drill, and was third in a lane agility sprint.

If they did BP he would be owning that I wager with his musculature.  But one can't find the BP stats probably to hide Ball and Fultz inability at that one.

Quote
Before he'd even played a game as a Blue Devil, Ojeleye was giving breathtaking displays of his natural gifts for the benefit of those involved in social media.

Duke's official Instagram account showed off the results of his standing vertical jump test: 13 feet, aka the top of the backboard. Teammate Marshall Plumlee posted a video of Ojeleye defeating him in a 400-pound tire push

Though he rarely shows it, he can touch the top of the backboard.  He is strong as an ox.   This guy needs more and needs to grow as a player.  He is worth investing playtime into.   He is good to great defender already with tons of room to grow.  He has tons of potential.

I really like how Semi has come along.  He is by far the player drafted in the 2nd round I have been most excited about since Dino Radja.  I see a ton of potential on both sides of the floor.  Guys like Ryan Gomes, Powe, Nader show a few good plays and they belong in the NBA at the end of the bench but Semi looks like one of those 2nd round absolute steals.  I understand it's early but if anyone is going to tap into a players potential its CBS.

The promise is obvious – and I really like him as a player. But he also clearly needs to work on his handle, and he does not have much wiggle or ability to change pace. I’m hoping he can keep playing within himself this year – spot up for those knockdown threes, learn how to position himself when he sets screens, roll, rebound, play defense. It’s going to take him some time to be productive on drives or in the open floor.

The other night he traveled almost every time he started his dribble; there was a little hop. They only called it on him once but they could’ve called it again. He drove into traffic a few times without any obvious plan – which is exactly what his predraft films showed as his weakness in college. It’s way too early to know what his ceiling is – is he “just” a good three and D guy, or possibly a poor man’s Draymond, or maybe his own unique thing? But for now, I would be happiest if I saw as few drives from him as possible – only on a break or when there’s a clear path to the cup without the help having a chance to get in.

I think he is just getting used to the game more.  The only thing he did at first was fire up threes but he has started making them more.  I think he needs to get to the rim and get involved there too because he is too strong not to.  He is just feeling his way through things out there, being asked to do a much different thing than he was before. He is working off other players and playing a kind of small ball PF spot or really mainly being asked just to focus on defending.

So far he is doing well with it.  He can be really exciting if he starts to be able to put the ball on the floor, hitting the boards and getting into garbage points, and finishing around the rim.  He has been really aggressive when he does get the ball, but if he's hitting the shots it's only a good thing.  I am taking it so far as a lot of desire to compete and make an impact.

Where he has been very special so far is a feel for defensive positioning and being incredibly laterally quick for a guy that big.

Ryan Gomes did a lot more than 'show a few good plays.'  You snooze on how nice of a player he turned out to be for a 2nd round talent

Semi is going to be 23 in a couple of weeks.  Most rookies are 19 or 20 these days.  You have to factor that in when you try to project his ceiling.  You would expect him to be much more developed physically.

I think he is a great pick, glad we have him.  Not sure he will ever be an NBA starter though.

EDDIE 20 thinks" he sucks" doesn't hustle  and is a paper athlete-
I had a long missive from him on how bad he is.
He was a steal and will be part of celts defense for years and can shoot-don't think he will ever wiggle but he may collapse a rim-One video put out calls him the" terminator"
That college throw down was pure beast
This is another smart guy that loves basketball  I think he was an academic all american and his parents from Nigeria and are Drs.
He has incredible work ethic---Danny got lucky again
His physique was probably always there,he got in a tough situation at Duke and transfered and got red shirted and then blossomed under his new coach
Brad will make him better-it started last night
