The looking at the wrist hype thing

So I don't like the looking at the wrist thing like this guy is God's gift to basketball. It strikes me as un-Celtic. This is not an individual sport.

Has Russ been around much the last couple years?  Someone might need a 'little' history lesson.

I've imagined it to be nothing more than building his "brand" (e.g., King of the Fourth).  Probably has advisors, his agent, etc. encouraging him with this stuff. 

If he gets us out of the 1st round this year though, I won't mind if he starts pointing to his ankles, ears, etc.

Especially when it's premature, like it was last night. He was doing it early 4th. Team was too cocky yesterday and took Suns for granted.

And, he should only do it if we're going to win.

You take away the irrational confidence and it's not Isaiah anymore. He can do whatever as long as his teammates don't mind (which they don't seem to.)

I was only irritated at him doing it yesterday. I've actually loved watching him doing it all season though (letting the league know who he is and everything..).

But IT and the C's seemed to be cocky last night, thinking after a big Lakers win they could come in and blow out the Suns (and they even started well and had a 19-8 lead while the Suns were bricking everything).

Agreed with what @csfansince60s said. Only do it when a W is pretty secure (like 10+ pt. lead with only a minute to go).

Basketball is supposed to be fun, his celebration is just him having fun imo.

I have always loved sports celebrations and will never ever subscribe to an idea that celebrating isn't playing the game the way it was meant to be played.

Give me a break the guy is 5'7" -leading the league in fourth quarter scoring and having a blast playing the game.

I am old enough to  know that Cousy, Russell, Heinsohn, Havlicek, Cowens--McHale, DJ,  Bird--Paul, KG--all played the game the way Isaiah does--

Have you ever heard about how upset other teams got when Red lit up his cigar in the fourth quarter & how every once in a while he was premature--  Red would have loved Isaiah looking at his wrist > Bill Russell probably cackles every time Isaiah does it -- just as Tommy says "the little guy"--

Hopefully every kid in the country is in his driveway practicing his last second shot and then looking at his watch and saying out loud "you know what time it is!"

Red lit it up because those teams were finals locks every year. He was a little too confident last night the 4th quarter thing might have went to his head a little. Lets not complain too much though, hes carrying us

First point:  yes, IT plays like several of those Celtic greats...on defense!  And he's a chucker like Heinson I suppose, except of course he's the PG.

Second point:  yeah the cigar.  I'm old enough to remember some of that, too. It was reserved for when the TEAM had the win in hand, much like Gino time.

Not questioning talent of course. It's just there doesn't seem to be much about this guy that says 'champion' to me.  The AAU era, I guess.

And I'm all for some good trash talk, psych-out the opposition game; It's just that I don't think players who divide their focus to include their personal scoring average or quarter-stat individual goals are in the Celtic tradition.
