I've long been of the belief that Paul George is among the more overrated players in the league.

PS: PLEASE look at the Bball Ref page linked below before dismissing this.

If he is so overrated, why would Indiana be resistant to trading him?  Why are they bad at rating players but you are not?

Now guys, how about this.

If you could have:

* George on $19M/3
* Butler on $17M/3
* Hayward on $26M/4

Who would still rather have Hayward?

But Hayward only costs money.  This is a poor comparison.

Paul George is better because of his defense. Hayward's defensive stats are only as good as they are because of Rudy Gobert and the other quality defenders around him in Utah. Hayward is a middling defender. Paul George a high level one.

Hayward has an advantage on offense due to his superior efficiency but the gap here is smaller than the one on the defensive end of the court.

I think you deal for George if you feel Lebron has at least 3 more good years left in him, where he can play like he does now.  PG13 can be a Lebron neutralizer.

If you don't, you take a shot at free agency.

probably fixed.

So no Hayward. No Butler.

Do you overpay for George, or try to look for other options?

Paul has made three All NBA (3rd) Teams and 4 All Star teams to Hayward's 1 All Star team. They're pretty close this season even though Paul George is having a down year and Hayward is having the best of his career. I think that says it.

I'm not sure where this "down year" thing is coming from, but several people have mentioned it. Paul George is probably having the best year of his career, at least offensively.

Care to try to substantiate that?

His counting numbers are almost even with his career highs and his efficiency numbers are career highs.
