No matter what happens now, Cousins is likely the best player to be traded this season. Does this open the flood gates and make it an ideal time for Paxson to deal his franchise player? Or does it put more pressure on Danny to make a comparably sized splash with his treasure chest of assets?

I don't think it changes much. Clearly Ainge didn't really want Cousins, or he'd be here. Similarly, Danny can either wait for the Bulls to drop their price or he can add a very high draft pick to a borderline contending team. There really is no downside.

I also don't think Paxson feels much pressure. He can always trade Butler at a later time.

I voted neither.

The correct answer is the fans.

Many of us look at this as a hugely missed opportunity with Cousins. I get that.

The worse thing to do now is to react because of it and make a "big" move giving up a bunch of assets to satisfy that empty feeling that perceived missed opportunity brings. A lot of bad decisions in life are made that way.
