With an unequivocal breakthrough season under his belt, one that carries an increasing average scoring month on month. What other requirements must IT accomplish in order to be considered a top 2 PG in the game? Can he reach the stardom levels of Chris Paul or Kyrie Irving?

All I know is that the gap between him and the aforementioned two is closing, and quite signficantly.

1. Win in the playoffs
2. Win more in the playoffs
3. Play better defense

He's there.

He makes his team successful, and the players around him better.

The defense is what it is because of his size, and it's not his issue that the Celtics have failed to surround him with enough talent to make a run in the playoffs.

IT is a superstar, and should be paid as such.
Coined the CelticsBlog term, "Euromistake."

He's putting superstar numbers with superstar efficiency. He's clutch, he involves his team mates and make them better. He's a superstar. I don't care about the defense and stats and his size. I don't care if he's mvp or the 11th best PG in nba. All I care is that he's working very hard to win a title in Boston.

I think if he wins the scoring title or becomes first team all NBA then it won't matter what he does in the playoffs. He will already be there.

If he doesn't hit either one then putting the Celtics on his back in the playoffs like he has all year will get him there.

He is a super Star..

Harden is a super Star playing laughable aka ZERO Defense..
Anthony Davis is a Super Star with ZERO playoff wins.

Why are the guidelines different for IT ?
Night in and Night out he goes point for point with the opposing teams "Super Star" most of the times out dueling them..

He's better than Kyrie I think.

Kyrie is hideously overrated.

Well put, hard to argue against IT's arival based on the historical company he keeps. Isaiah Thomas is writing his legacy every game.

He needs to achieve two things:

1. Defense
2. 4 more inches

I agree and people on here put him up there with Paul, Westbrook, etc.  Irving's defense is worse than Thomas's and as spectacular as Irving can be offensively, he's not better than Thomas right now.

Yeah, I think he needs to show he can carry the team farther than they got last year.

A great all-star game will help too.
