Only small sample available. But which starting backcourt do you like better?

  • That's turrible
IT4/Smart. Both are great playmakers and Smart can guard more positions because he is a big guard. Plus his offensive game is (albeit slowly) coming along. AB is amazing and it is hard to choose tbh, but he is a small shooting guard. It's a close, close call.

Good question...I'm going with IT4 / AB for now...but IT4 / Smart is intriguing.

I would prob go with Smart, only b/c I think he costs less. Bradley has slowly improved, and should get a couple All Star votes this year. Looking at the Turner/Mozgov deals, I think some team might pay him $20m. I like him, but not that much.

I think IT is the best out of the three, and would rather pay him than the other two.
The only real mistake is the one from which we learn nothing.

Trade AB then?

I wonder what the Celts can get for Crowder and AB

Trade Rozier. we have enough minutes for both combination in the OP.

Would be an interesting question to pose again after the Toronto game, when we see how the team has performed against better opposition without AB. AB has the advantage over Smart by the smallest, though significant, of margins. If Smart can put up points consistently the way AB does, he then comes into the conversation for being a starter (all players available). Points aside, both do a lot in other areas and it is difficult to split their contributions.

Isn't it a great conundrum to have?

I like Smart's evolution this year, it's satisfying for those of us who kept faith. However I think it best that he remains the "6th starter" on this team because it's where he brings the most to the table.

What we saw against the Pels was a specific gameplan to counter a team trapping IT. In a normal game we'd go back to having IT on the ball a lot which doesn't play to Smart's strengths. Bringing him off the bench allows him more time on the ball.

In time it may well be that he moves into the starter role but lets not rush it, both he and Avery are contributing well in their respective roles, let's leave it as is for now

I'm a huge fan of smart but I do think IT/AB should start. I do think, however, that IT should rest early so that we run a lineup of Smart/AB before bringing in IT to sort of "dominate" the 2nd unit.

As long as IT4 scores at an efficient level, he should remain as a starter

I feel like AB has lost a slight step on the defensive end..

Maybe the wear and tear is getting to him. And he is injured again. Seems like every season he is out 10 games or so due to injury

Future discussion...but cant bring out the trucks for IT4, AB, and Smart (small trucks)
