Thats what it looks like is happening as Okafor and Noel have fallen by the wayside, but Simmons and Embiid can only be rivaled by Wiggins/Towns.

What about Giannis/Parker?  I think I'd take them over either of the above named twosomes.

I don't think those guys are available.  Anyone with eyes can see that Giannis is turning into a star player and Parker was very highly drafted.

those two just slipped my mind. Giannis feels like hes been around for longer.

In terms of young duos, the 4 really talented ones are probably
Simmons Embiid
GA Parker
Ingram Russell
Wiggins Towns

Embiid Simmons is probably the most talented pair, but we havent seen Simmons yet and Embd still has injury issues. Ingram Russell is the worst.

Between Parker GA and Wiggins Towns is tough. I like Parker better than Wiggins(not a big Wiggins guy) but I prefer Towns to GA.

Id probably prefer Wiggins Towns is probably more talented and fits together better, but Parker GA have a better resume at this point.

Any of those top 3 pairs are terrific building blocks.

Who can play alongside Embiid?  Is that even a question?

Didn't they draft that Simmons kid #1 overall to be their franchise 4?

I'm not against trading for Noel, I just don't want to give up a lot for a guy who is about to hit free agency and is getting 0 play time for his team currently.

First off, I think the 76ers need to know of Embiid is capable of playing 82 games a year, for years to come, and not Noels contract or feelings. I think that should be their main concern. Embiid is by far the most talented center they have.

Next, question is who can play along side of Mr. Embiid. They've obviously decided Noel isn't that guy. And based on the fact that Noel is in a contract year, they need to make a move with him, or just loose him.

IMO it's a matter of time before we see Noel traded to someone. I would like to get a good look at him with our team, see if he fits, and is worth the C's making an offer to, rather than make a blind offer next year.

Publicly, there planning on playing Simmons at PG next year. We'll see how THAT works out.

He may play the point on offense, but I'm sure he won't be guarding point guards on defense. The Sixers should trade both Noel and Okafor for good young guards. They are set in the front court with Embiid, Saric and Simmons.

That might just happen...

All those available quality centers according to that article, you'd think the Celtics would be able to get one of them, right?

Not sure I'd call it a "glut of big men", or at least not a glut of "quality" big men available, that could help this team. There are a couple that could be made available that the C's may have interest in.

Edit: Put another way, it's not a buyers market for bigs.

I have a hard time believing some of them are available.  Like how Nurkic might not be able to play alongside Jokic, but there's no way Denver trades him for cheap. He's a good big still on his rookie contract

Is there any way Danny can get Donatas Motiejunas ?

Yes.  Get D-Mo to agree to a $2.9 million contract for the rest of the season.  Also be convinced by the Celtics doctors that D-Mo will be able to get on the court.

Some people think Noel isn't good enough. Some people think Cousins isn't nice enough.

With either of them, I think the Celtics have a chance to be a top tier team.

I don't think Noel did anything wrong. He is right. He is too good to be only getting 8 minutes.
Maybe things would be different if he bought into the program and didn't wait until the start of the season to have elective surgery.  He's been healthy for like a week.  It's too soon to start whining.

Noels assessment was correct.

He is still in the wrong.

  • Peace it's a board. We all will never agree.
This is actually not a bad idea...

That may make Noel a cheap fallback FA option if no other star FA's are available (and I doubt there will be with Hayward and Griffin staying put)

People project he gets a near-max or max.. but if he's on the bench most of the season, will anyone even pay him that much? I highly doubt it, even with the market as inflated as it is...
Mosgov and  Festus Ezeli were paid what. Noel will get some serious cash.  Dallas needs a center

Ezeli didn't get that much.  $7.4 million this year and only one year guaranteed.  Of course, given that he hasn't yet played, and might not play at all, he did well.  But it's not as if multiple Brinks trucks arrived at his house over the summer.
