I think so. That goes along with being asked to do more things. Good point on the rebounding. Our guards have had to rebound a lot more. We need better bigs than we have imo. Crowder is the guy who bugs me the most though he's basically just jacking 3's and is not that strong at driving. His hustle on rebounds hasn't been great either. Smart and Bradley are continuing to grow. Crowder is older though. Good player and nothing against him but just out of his element imo the way this team is constructed right now. It's not really his fault.
Crowder reminds me of Lagarrette Blount for some reason. Good team guy. He left the pats and then came back and is having a great year. I really just think he's out of his element right now the way the team is constructed.
Probably will bounce back in a different role.
1st off, if one more person (and by this I mean a respected, long-term poster) comes up with the hot-take that we need better bigs, I am going to start an all-out assault campaign that we trade Jaylen Brown for Omer Asik. I will assume admin punishment risks.
Second, Jae is actually shooting the three at his highest clip this year. So, if he is shooting at a tick under .400, Saul Goodman.
Third, he's never been a great rebounder - he can barely dunk the basketball. That is not his role.
He is the perfect guy off the bench, however, on championship team.. Jaylen , or Hayward, or someone else is your starter... still cannot believe we have Jae cost-controlled until 2019-2020 - for next to peanuts.
Your best argument seemed to be summed up perfectly in the last sentence.
That was my argument that he is playing out of his role. By jacking 3's I mean more than half his shots this year are 3 point shots. At home for some reason close to 70 percent of his shots are 3's. He has not stepped up in any other area because he is basically just standing at the 3 point line shooting 3's. He is not that strong a driver. He is not that fast or athletic or active in any other way. He's not the type of guy who can get from the 3 point line to do other things. Stevens has us spreading the floor.
He's shooting a decent percentage but it's not really taking advantage of his toughness in other ways when he is at the 3 point line a huge percentage of the time.
All in all he's still having a decent year. It's just what we are doing with the personnel we have. Stevens wants to shoot the 3. It's just difficult for Crowder to do those other things when he's at the 3 point line a huge percentage of the time.
If we had a legit center who could rebound it wouldn't matter that much but with KO in there we are a 3 point shooting team. Too much right now imo.
Is that a hot take? I guess. It wasn't the first time. It was just a statement of why.
Stevens has always said he wants to shoot the 3. It's really fine. We are practicing is how I see it so when we do get those other pieces we'll be able to do both.
I agree with Stevens that you have to shoot the 3 in todays nba. It's just the way it is. We could definately tone it down a bit.
