Tyson Chandler would be an absolutely perfect fit on this team. He can slot in right next to Horford in the starting lineup and add the rebounding we desperatrly need. I'd much rather have Amir replacing Zeller off the bench as well. Ainge has always had a pretty good relationship with the Pheonix office so I think he could get something done there. I'm sure Chandler would rather compete as opposed to fading away in mediocrity as well.

Zeller + young + a second for Chandler.
So basically you want chandler for nothing.  Okay.
The Suns would jump at that deal.  They don't want to be paying Chandler for another 2 years and neither should we.

Yeah, his salary is an obstruction to a deal. I'm sure they would like to unload him. But those big bucks of a couple of years ago don't look so big now.

We are getting killed on the boards. We're a strange team in that our guards (Bradley, smart, Rozier) are probably better rebounders than our bigs (Kelly, Zeller, jerebko). And it doesn't help that this year, it seems teams are exploiting the IT matchup more than before.

It doesn't show up on the box score but if IT can't contain his man, the defense needs to react and so, we've been pretty poor defensively to start the year. Injuries play a part, obviously, but I have a hard time imagining we'd be much better if we had Sullinger out there.

In times like these, I wonder how good of a fit a guy like Deandre Jordan would be on this team.

We are consistently bad in rebounding for some years now. I had read on ESPN that we are shortest team this year, and Sullinger was a pretty good rebounder if you look at his rebounding rates. So it is normal we would be bad, but rebounding is also about effort. When you lack both the physical tools and the effort to grab rebounds, and give many second/third chances, your defense is doomed.

In the short term, we must show more effort and hustle to grab rebounds. In the long term, I think Danny and CBS will deal with it. It is hard to contend for a title while giving many opportunities to opponent offense.

This is what I've been saying for a while. I'm glad someone else noticed.

The dearth of high-quality rebounders in recent Boston history is ridiculous. For all the good moves Ainge has made, this is an area in which he's failed. The team's best rebounders the last few years were Sullinger (in limited time) and Rondo (a guard). Even KG and Perk weren't that good, considering their size and length. I realize that RPG doesn't tell the whole story, but suffice it to say that Boston hasn't had a player average double digits in rebounds since Al Jefferson with 11 a game in 2006-07—an entire decade ago.

Anyone know the shooting % allowed on the first shot of a possession vs. the shooting % allowed on the 2nd chance shot after the other team is allowed the rebound?

I wouldn't be surprised if it was quite high, but I assume that's a trend across all teams. After all, don't they say that the hardest shot to guard is the 3 pointer off an offensive rebound?

What I would wanna know is where do we rank in OREB allowed (in absolutes and %)? Is there such a stat?

Rebounding is a big thing we're missing this year
It's the one thing we could've counted on sullinger to do for us last season

With horford and crowder out, our lack of boards is really showing

Personally, I would go for Chandler. I know, I know, his salary makes it difficult to sign a big-time FA next summer.  However, given the KD experience (as well as their historical inability to attract big-time FAs to Boston), how likely is it that Ainge could actually sign someone?  That topic is deserving of its own thread.

Are we really gonna start the "Boston can't sign a big name FA" thing again? Signing the 2nd best FA this summer, and being the second choice of the best FA sorta disproved that
I'm bitter.
