Sully pulled down 7rbs a game (same as Al), it doesn't matter what he COULD have done he could not play many minutes! We sucked at it last season and we will this season. It is what it is, Sully or no Sully! AB and IT4 have pulled down a lot of boards so far, something they didn't do last season. KO and Mahcus will pull a few down when they are healthy. IF AB and Thomas hover around 4-5 apiece a game, KO same (not good lol), Smaht w/ 4-5, and Horford with 7-8 per then that's already better than last season. Add on some by Roze who is good at it but didn't play last season and hopefully some from JB as the season goes on (he has stunk rb so far), we will be looking up on rebounding!
Horford is a great fit for the team but even a great fit needs time to gel. Then, when we get our bench clicking/healthy it will be ON!
Sullinger averaged 8.3 rebounds a game last year and his rebound % was 18.7 (27 defensively and 10.6 offensively). Gerald Green at 14.7% is the highest Celtic in the two games and Zeller at 12.8% is second.
Very clear difference between Sullinger and who Boston has now. And I know it is just two games, but take Horford. He has never averaged 18.7%. His rookie year he was 18 and hasn't been above 16.4 since and hasn't been above 16 since his 4th year in the league. he also has been pretty steadily going down to 12.4% last year (his career low). Looking at last year, that means Sullinger grabbed 6 more boards per 100 opportunities while on the floor than Horford. That is a pretty big drop off.
I hear you but it doesn't change the fact that he only pulled down 8 and that 1 more rb isn't helping our problem. Sure, he could pull down more but it's tough to do on the bench exhausted and out of shape. He is a rebound beast but he couldn't stay out there. Again, we STUNK last season wth Sully and we will likely stink all this season too. Hopefully, we will be good at most of everything else. Also, as I said b4, if there is an uptick from everyone else then we should be better than last season but still suck as a whole because that's who we have been for about 3+ years now.
BTW: I still think losing Turner is a bigger deal than Sully atm.
OT: when I was watching the game last night I thought bulls were playing good d on us but we shot 50% and 34% (that needs to be a little better).
