nader had a really strong portsmouth invitational tournament-nader avg 17 points ,5 boards and 1.3 steals-he scored 25 points with 4 steals in the final game and made all tourney team-nader hit for 37% in his final year from 3
if nader comes to camp and gets waived -he can be picked up-if the celts give him an offer he refuses then he does not sacrifice the celts draft rights and can play for red claws
-the kid can shoot 6-6 with 7-1 wingspan, plays d and can put it on the floor-bye bye james

I don't like to think about James Young because it reminds me that I have a bunch of stuff in storage that I thought was worth keeping for the future but now it's just taking up space. I don't want to think about cleaning it out. I just want it to be gone.

Others can correct me if I'm wrong, but since Nader is a "domestic draft and stash" he will not be under contract with us.

Meaning he will not be the one who pushes James Young off the roster. I do think Young will be gone, but probably so we can keep Hunter.

thanks boris if i confused this issue -nader will not be in camp but will refuse a offer and play in maine the celts retain his draft rights---bye bye james was just an after thought--
with the way nader  has come on he might want to get waived with the celts depth-

I think Danny is trying to get cute with Nader, not signing him while still trying to retain his rights!  I think Nader realizes he had a great stretch leading up to the draft(ie, Portsmouth), and then a great SL and knows he can make an NBA team THIS YEAR!
IMO he's gonna end up on another NBA roster this year, make a splash, and end up one of DA's biggest mistakes in years.

I think Danny gave this kid a chance, just because he played well in Summer League means exactly nothing.

And how, exactly, do you believe that's happening?
I could very well see the Hawks... starting Taurean Prince at the 3, who is already better than Crowder, imo.

Nader agreed to play for the Red Claws this year before being drafted.

Yeah, Ohio must not know that Nader cannot sign with another team for at least a year unless we waive him (which we won't). End of the 2nd round players are rarely in a position of strength when it comes to contract negotiations.

The D-League draft and stash is a great idea, but something has to be done about the salaries - especially for drafted players. It doesn't make any sense to have to send your own player overseas just so that he doesn't count as a roster slot, but that is really the only option with such paltry salaries. It puts good GMs (like Danny) who are able to accumulate draft picks at a disadvantage.

I am not putting some silly expectation on Nader but I do not get why Bentil is signed and he is not.  Still odd to me.  Bentil looked truly terrible in SL.

I thought so as well but just read that Globe piece in which his agent doesn't bring anything like that up.

This was my thinking too.......it must be that they are hiding him ,or want to see if he is really all the hype .....then cut the other scrubs and sign Nader.

Abdel Nader has earned an invite to camp and an opportunity to earn a roster spot.
Otherwise, he and his agent should take is talents elsewhere. He has done what you want out of a young unproven player. He gets his time and he makes the most of his opportunity.  He has done what we had hoped James Young, Jordan Mickey and RJ Hunter would do-make plays when he gets minutes.

Bentil and Jackson have contracts (though I do believe Demetrius is a good signing) Nader does not have one.

I do not know how Nader will fare. But I believe that he deserves a fair shot.
If he plays well in camp and pre-season, why not? Isn't that what you want out of rookies?

We are all miners here, looking for the gems from the common stones.

one way or another he still will wind up in maine-
unless he is good enough to stick and be a bench player
so refuse offer and remain a celtic asset, go to maine become a d league star like mickey and come back to summer league and training camp next year when the roster will have opened up--  if the celts didn't value him they would invite him to camp and then waive him-
yabusele and zizic both accepted being stashed ,why not nader
nader has elite length a 7-1 wingspan and looked very comfortable with left hand and he shot well
jonathon holmes had a good summer league with the celts
he got picked up by LA because he was undrafted and signed at end of summer league then was injured and out for season
