As emotionally backward as Cousins is, the Kings can't afford to part with him. If they traded their talented nitwit, all hope goes out the window for the franchise with this one trade. The fact is, the Kings are damed if they do, and damed if they don't.

The answer: NO

I am saying no not because I think the Kings wouldn't trade Cousins for the right deal but because I don't think Ainge would want to trade for the headache that is Boogie Cousins. What did Rondo say about the Kings players in general and about Cousins specifically? Cousins and the coaching staff were the cause of massive strife in the locker room? The players were lazy and selfish? The players wouldn't stay late for practice? And by players, Rondo meant Cousins too. This after several reporters close to the team have reported similar things about Cousins. Don't see Ainge wanting to bring that to his locker room.

I think Okafor is more realistic and is a guy who could grow with us and give us a much better advantage than upgrading our shooting guard.

No.

But if we did, #3 this year.  Right to swap with NJ next year and NJ's pick in 2018. That might get Sac to pick up the phone.

No one is giving up 3 lottery picks - likely all top 8 - for anyone not named Michael Jordan or Larry Bird.
Yeah, I was not kidding when I said we would need to START with that offer.  And it probably would not be enough.  Hey, DA was willing to give up almost as much for Winslow.

As usual, the fans are overvaluing the picks.  It is likely that not a single one will be as good as Cousins and, also possible that none will be a star.  Look at this year?  Any guaranteed stars at #3?  I didn't think so.

So basically, known quantities have a lot of value given that drafting (and in this case even the actual place of the selection) are a crap shoot.

0% chance of that happening.
I could very well see the Hawks... starting Taurean Prince at the 3, who is already better than Crowder, imo.

you vs. the guy she tells you not to worry about

Ultimately Cousins for 3, 16, Smart, Hunter, AJ, KO and 2018 Nets pick I think works for Kings. Kings can draft Brown at 3 and Heild or Murray at 6. Build with Smart, Heild, Brown, KO, WCS going foward. AJ is also a solid vet for the locker room. And 16 should net one other big for the rotation. It's a good rebuild plan.

And I don't think C's can turn that down as Cousins is too big of a talent. He might attract KD as well. Pitch him IT, AB, Crowder,  KD, and Cousins starters. With Crowder willing to take on any 4 or 3 that KD doesn't want to cover making life on that end easier. So yeah there is a chance.

I'd like to hear what Durany says first. That's a lot to give up for a guy with only two years left on his deal, even with his talent. Though putting Horford next him would create a pretty tough team to beat in the East.
Recovering Joe Skeptic, but inching towards a relapse.

Er, no. Nice try but Danny was supposedly willing to give up a lot of mid-to-late 1sts and a couple of seconds for Winslow. Not a guaranteed #3 and two other picks that are very likely to be top 5 or better in coming drafts.

As usual, the fans are overvaluing the picks.  It is likely that not a single one will be as good as Cousins and, also possible that none will be a star.  Look at this year?  Any guaranteed stars at #3?  I didn't think so.

There's no such thing as a guarantee in the draft. Everyone knows that. Even Lebron wasn't a guarantee. But everyone also knows that the chances of getting an All Star in the top 5 of the draft is pretty decent. What are the chances that any one player is better than Cousins? Not great. What are the chances that 3 players drafted in the top 5 or 6 in consecutive drafts (not guaranteed but likely) are worth more than Cousins? Oh, that's a pretty high chance.

As for overvaluing the picks, please point out any existing player in recent memory who was traded for 3 lottery picks (or even two top 5 picks). I think you'll find that this board doesn't overvalue the picks. You undervalue them.

Boogie is a very good player. A great player when he wants to be. But face it, he's also known as a cancer, a coach killer, Rondo just inferred he didn't work hard, gets too many technical fouls, etc. All of those negatives go with the positives.

Jaylen Brown will be an All Star in the next 5 years.

That is a really good deal for SAC and if Danny offered that up for Cousins, they would be crazy not to accept. I get it, Cousins is the best center in the league - blah blah blah - but he doesn't exactly have a history of team excellence. Sooner or later his team will need to start performing or his value will begin to plummet. There is no reason why a team with Cousins, Gay, Rondo, and solid role players shouldn't at least compete for a playoff spot, especially in the top heavy Western Conference.

I am not sure how much of a draw Cousins is in courting Durant, but the deal obviously becomes worth it if it is desirable for him.

I also like Okafor better than Cousins here, because he is younger, has upside and is cheap in salary, and can be had for much less than Cousins. They should be able to get him for the #3 and maybe another piece that isn't a core player.

I like Cousins--he's the most dominant NBA center--playing for a lousy team with many coaching changes. It's possible his problem is he wants to win, and is frustrated in Sacramento with bad teams.

If they could swing a deal for Cousins without giving up Crowder, Smart, IT or Bradley, I would be all for it. Whatever else it takes the Kings can have.

I think what happens with Demarcus Cousins is he stays with Sacramento with the new coach but if he acts up he's gone next February trade deadline. Most likely the Lakers trade for him.

My opinion on Boogie is that the moment we didnt get a top 2 pick our chance at Boogie went out the window.
