1 win late in the regular season is what separates our current situation and us being up 2-0 with home court on the Hornets.

The Celtics were winning the first game in ATL when their starting SG and best defender went down for the season.

Yet, many people want to claim this team is just not good, Stevens isn't that great, we should have tanked.

Look at the circumstances that got us in this situation.

Also, remember a playoff series doesn't even begin until the home team loses :)

Rather hard to know that this would be the case, isn't it?  The Hornets looked pretty good last time the Celts played them.

I wouldn't say we should have tanked, and Stevens is a good coach with a team thoroughly outmanned in this series. Working from the bench becomes quite complicated when the other guy's 1 through 5 are better than your 1 through 5.

Beyond that, I'm not going to argue. This is one of the worst, if not the worst, offensive Celtics teams I've ever seen.

it all comes down to shooting.

We use to smoke teams in the first quarter. Now we are lucky to survive it and be down only 10.

Someone is going to need to get a hot hand to help IT.

Other than a few good stretches, the Celts have been flat out terrible since the win over Golden State. I honestly don't understand.

We're a really good team when the shots are falling. We just don't have a ton of natural shooters and most of our guys are in a funk.

That was the Celtics' championship game. And then exacting their revenge on an 'ol nemesis the game after. Then they cruised to the playoffs.

Game 3 is a must-win game. Make it a statement game, coach.

Not just shooters; with the exception of IT, we lack shooters and scorers.  And as as we seen for two years in a row now, IT can't carry the team in the playoffs in the same way he does in the regular season.  Just a completely different game for him.

Here is a non-knee jerk reaction.  This team is seriously challenged offensively.  Our best scorer has to work for every inch, our second best player is hurt, and no one else is capable (save ET) of getting anything on their own.

Yep. And I just wanna come out here and defend Isaiah. (Not directed at you specifically. More a general rant/strong opinion)

It's true he's not a star by any means. But he is literally the primary focus of the defense by now, mainly bc we have no other solid offensive pieces.

I know some people think he's not a starting PG on a championship team, and that he is at best a 6th man. I disagree. If this team can add a true #1 scoring option, Isaiah could very well be the #2. And the starting PG. it's just, everyone focuses on him. If we had a bonafide star who could get a bucket whenever he wanted, Isaiah would also thrive.

The 6th man talk needs to stop. With another scoring option, Isaiah is capable of being a starting PG.

There, I'm done.
I could very well see the Hawks... starting Taurean Prince at the 3, who is already better than Crowder, imo.

you vs. the guy she tells you not to worry about

I don't disagree.  IT is fantastic talent and is absolutely a unique talent.  Not at all saying that he is not a good player.  If we had IT instead of say Nate Robinson in the latter big three era, we might have won another title.  He would have been a fantastic  spark plug in those years.

He just cannot consistently carry this team in the playoffs with every team geared to stop him.  He just has to work too hard.

My first thought was a high school girls team, but this works.

I suppose being down 0-2 is the perfect situation for all Celtics fans—pessimists are reveling in the historically bad performance tonight and what is certainly a dire overall situation, and optimists are salivating at dreams of winning the series after such a bleak beginning.

I'm more of a pessimist in these types of situations. Sure they could come back, especially if Horford and Schroeder miss significant time, but with Bradley out, KO out or severely hampered, Crowder dinged up, and everyone shooting horribly, it seems highly unlikely.

My prediction was Hawks in 5, but I'm not sure the Cs can last that long.
