marcus did a commendable job playing d against a system thats offence is about getting george open
i watched the game live last night with a 5hr time difference so i was half asleep-the two plays that hurt were rozier being knocked off a rebound and the same for jerebko, as well as that circus three on the 24second clock-zeller got called for over the back,i questioned that-there was some really good d by marcus where george forarmed him out of way on a drive down lane with little time on clock-avery's got to work on keeping that back foot down or they will call that at some crucial time in playoffs or with a game on the line
isaiah did not produce down the stretch
young was supposed to have shot the ball really well in practice-could have used some of that-
the celts should have a practice on how to defend euro step

though George had a pretty nice statline, he went for 9/16 or something like that. Which looks good on paper. But if you watch the game, he had to run through multiple screens just to get open. I think there were a couple of plays where I saw, they set 2 screens for George in which Smart bulldozes the first screen.

George hit some really tough shots, and I think he did most of his damage vs. other defenders besides Smart. I was actually surprised by how well Smart defended him - thought before the game that ET would have a better shot, but Smart was very effective. There was really only one play where he looked overmatched, when George got middle, knocked Smart backwards, and pulled up with perfect balance at the foul line. There was one other play where Smart got caught on a screen and George hit an open 3 from the top of the key. Otherwise, Smart forced him into tough fadeaways (some of which he did hit), and caused a few turnovers, too.

I'm ~90% sure the below link should tell the story of Paul George's stats when Marcus is on the floor vs. on the bench:

http://stats.nba.com/vs/#!/?PlayerID=202331&VsPlayerID=203935

In the H2H section, I believe "On Court" is Paul George's stats when Marcus is on the court, and "Off Court" is Paul George's stats when Marcus is on the bench.

The link defaults to traditional stats, but also check out advanced stats.  Pretty good stuff (if that's what it's actually capturing).

I'm dumb - just realized that last night was the only game where Marcus would primarily defend George and it's normally Crowder, so you can pretty much throw this out the window.

But the link is still helpful to see his impact vs. players he regularly guards so not all is lost.
