Over the last 18 games otherwise referred to as the post David Lee era the C's are 13-5.  In the minutes K.O. has not been on the floor the C's have a record of 7-10-1T with a total +/- of -30.  In the minutes K.O. was on the floor the C's have a record of 14-4 with a total +/- of +143.

Minutes     Off. Rat.     Def. Rat.     Net Rat.
With/K.O. on floor       354         111.4          95.6         +15.9
Without/K.O.              520         107.9         107.8           +.1

Below are each players minutes and +/- when they have played with and without K.O.

With K.O. on floor                    Without K.O. on floor
                Minutes     +/-                          Minutes     +/-
Smart          289      +109                            220       -57
Bradley        247      +105                            304        -4
Turner         279        +84                            203       -45
Crowder       137        +70                            436       -18
Jerebko        164        +64                            118       -19
Thomas        137        +64                            442       +1
Sullinger        53        +54                            334        +9
Johnson         30         +9                             337       +27
Zeller            74         +15                             86        -33

People are crazy if they think K.O. being out for 3-4 weeks isn't going to hurt the team significantly.  I will be surprised if the C's are above .500 in his absence even with an easier schedule over the next 8 games before a very tough stretch in mid March.

He numbers might just reflect the bench mob. The uptick our bench overall has been the defining change.

Take a look at how Smart, Turner, Jerebko and Zeller have performed off the bench when not on the floor with K.O. and that theory goes right out the window Denis998.

Yea, If the celtics success was limited to Kelly's production and on court presence then teams would have an easier time game planning for us and we would not have been as successful over the past couple months. This certainly indicates his importance but to go as far as to say that "were crazy" and "youd be suprised" is really sensationalist. I think it will be interesting to see how the floor gets stretched in his absence but Jonas isnt a slouch when it comes to shooting the three. And we may (I hope) see some James Young emergence, especially tonight with Utah having superior size.

I got a new computer and for some reason I can't "quote" so in answer to greenrunsdeep41.  I am not trying to be sensationalist at all, I just read some comments in other threads downplaying K.O.'s importance and created this thread to show otherwise.  The single biggest reason the C's have been so good lately is do to K.O. returning to playing center alongside Jerebko off the bench creating a matchup nightmare for other teams.  Zeller in K.O.'s absence alongside Jerebko creates no such matchup problem.  They have put up ugly numbers together so far this year.  Guaranteed the bench dominance disappears as it did earlier this year when the K.O./Jerebko pairing was not being used.

Pairing Zeller & JJ works fine too and both played well b4 the AllStar break. I say C's will just keep on rolling. Toob bad Kelly got injured again. Everytime one of the youngsters gets going he is injured right away. Hopefully Smart and Sully can stay healthy for the reminder of the season.

I don't get it.
Every time Mickey plays, he looks great.
Better than Jerebko.
