Forget salaries. Forget who plays for our team or not.

Who would you rather have on your team?

Tristan Thompson or Jared Sullinger.

I get the allure of an athlete like Thompson, especially when comparing him to Sully.

Sully's rebounding is almost exactly the same. Sully is younger. Sully is also a better passer and more versatile.

I dislike Sully a lot but prefer him over Thompson. I dislike both players.

I'm with you, but I am more hopeful that Sully can make himself into a better player.

Thompson is one dimensional. I'll take Sully.

I have gone for Sully in the past but I think T.Thompson has improved considerably over the last 12 months in regards to his rebounding and especially his defense. Thompson is now a high level defensive PF and a high level rebounding PF. That has moved him ahead of Sully.

  • That's turrible
Thompson has a tougher demeanor, which I like, but Sully is more well rounded. I'll take Sully. Maybe we won't have this conversation when our boy, Jordan Mickey starts dominating when he comes to play with the big boys

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
Apart from his rebounding, Thompson's ability to guard the pick and roll and come out to guard defenders in switches is what got him that big contract. Lebron loves the ability to be lazy and switch with Thompson.

"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
At this point, Thompson seems like a much better contributor to a contender than Sully. I agree that Sully is a very good rebounder and he may be slightly more rounded (in more ways than one - shazam!!), but there is a vast difference on defense between the two and Thompson's ability to finish strong at the rim is a valuable component that Sully just doesn't really have.

It really does come down to his weight.
