  • Peace it's a board. We all will never agree.
We're not getting Cousins. It's not happening, and we all have to accept it.

Why? Because you say so???

Yeah really! I used to post on realgm a while ago and years before we got KG I used to post trade ideas to get him and people would say things like, "It's not happening, and we all have to accept it." I love how so many people here talk as if they have some crystal ball.
KG came here because he wanted to come here. Not because Minny wanted to get rid of him. He could have stay they asked him if wanted to be traded and he said yes.

Did you seriously wake up this morning and think: "CelticsBlog needs another Cousins thread"?

That is just so far from the truth. The ONLY reason? I know he at first said no, and then we got Ray, but to say to only reason he came here was because he wanted to is just foolish. He was under contract. We had to make an offer or him that Minny would accept. You make it sound like he could go anywhere.

On another note, and so I don't start another DMC thread and p--- ssspence off....

The quickest realistic way back to contention is this:
1. Get DMC. starting with picks, trade all o them if need be, get him
2. Get Rondo back. With DMC he will want to come back and wont cost that much to sign.
3. Sign the best player you can get in free agency this summer.
4. Round out the roster with ring chasers.

DMC
Amir
Crowder
AB/Smart
Rondo/IT
plus one max or near max FA and ring chasers plus KO and some of our current bench.

"By this time Garnett was willing to consider a contract extension with the Celtics. So on July 20, with Minnesota's permission, Ainge flew to California for a one-on-one in Garnett's Malibu backyard. During the 90-minute conversation they discussed how KG would fit in with the Celtics and worked out the general terms of his salary: combining the two years remaining on his current contract (enhanced by a 15% trade kicker) and a three-year, $56 million extension, Garnett would earn a total of $104.9 million over the next five seasons in Boston. "It was probably the most simple negotiation I've been through," says Garnett."
Garnett want to come here he had other options.

Sacramento is

(1) within striking distance of a playoff spot for the first time in 10 years
(2) playing better than it was last year
(3) no longer publicly showing signs of internal strife

That just doesn't sound to me like a team that's about to trade its best player. At this point, Cousins wouldn't be any easier to get than Drummond, George, Favors, Lillard, Melo, etc

What are you right about? KG came here because Minny wanted to trade him. Yes he could have refused to come here and blocked the trade but to say the ONLY reason he came here was because he wanted to is silly. I'm sure he wanted to go to other teams more but they couldn't sing a deal the Wolves would take.

I AM I RIGHT and I know it.  ;)

sad to say, but YOU ARE RIGHT AND I KNOW IT.

If/when there is another DMC problem in Sac, Danny should make a really good offer.

Fair enough. Either a DMC problem or a losing streak that crushes any burgeoning optimism for the present season.

  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
The thing about Boogie is that I don't think a SAC implosion really helps a trade along anymore. SAC is in as close to a "good" place as they have been during Boogie's tenure there, and if it gets sidetracked by some player-coach bullcrap or chemistry snafu, I think in some ways it makes a trade less likely, because it reinforces the notion that Boogie just can't make it without being a primadonna, and it isn't translating to wins. (assuming they start to lose)

Right now everything looks gravy, but keep in mind, this is basically a club whose "new heights" they're rising to is .500 or thereabouts over the last month. They're 17-23 on the year.

If Boogie has another "big deal" lockerroom issue, I don't really think it makes all the teams come-a-courtin' like it has in the past.

Why? Because you say so???

Because it's reported over and over and over again that they have zero interest in moving him. The Kings are obsessed with 1) making the playoffs, and 2) luring John Calipari there. Both mean that there is no chance they're trading him.

Juts because fans would like them to trade him doesn't mean they have ANY REASON to do so.

KG chose us over other suitors and is not all truth the Minny wanted to trade him. They all came to an agreement that was best for the Franchise and that was the reason he chose us and accepted the trade. Did you read the above link? Anige sold KG on Boston.

Because literally every source with inside info says they have zero interest in moving him. Because he's young and under contract for a couple more years. Because he's a top 10 player in the league. Because the Kings need a face to sell tickets as they move into a new arena. Because the Kings are a .500 team with Boogie healthy this year, and are currently a game out of the playoffs.
Yeah, it's time for a lot of us to move on and find someone else to be infatuated with.  Hopefully someone obtainable.
