Gallinari & Nerlens Noel are the targets

Gallo is a power forward now, basically.  If he came to the Celts, I'd expect him to start at PF in a lineup with IT, Bradley/Smart, Crowder, and either Olynyk or Johnson.

Ideally, you would try to also acquire a better defensive big man / interior finisher (e.g. Noel) to put next to him.

Gallo does take a lot of shots from outside, but he does have the handle to iso against slower players, and even be the ballhandler in a pick and roll occasionally.  He's a skilled player, and he does drive sometimes.  He's not a wing version of Ryan Anderson, in other words.

Sort of, although Gallo takes a lot more threes than KO does.


Gallo hasn't averaged a ton of points for his career, but he is a relatively explosive scorer.  He's had a lot of big games.  That's an element that's missing on this Celts team.  IT obviously has big games sometimes, but it's a lot harder for him to enter the "can't be stopped" zone due to his size. 

At 6'10'', Gallo can simply shoot over most of the guys defending him, and when he's got it going it's pretty hard to stop him.

I would add two main differences between KO and Gallo. The first is that Gallinari draws a lot of fouls. The second, relatedly, is that Gallinari is a much more prolific one-on-one scorer. Olynyk, as we all know, is at his best moving without the ball, knocking down open shots, finishing in the flow of the offense, and occasionally going one-on-one when he gets a mismatch. Gallinari creates his own shot against a wider variety of opponents, maybe a little more like a mixture of KO and Evan Turner on offense.
