Not sure what's so crazy about this thread. It's mostly spot on. For example...

Offensivesly: He has a deadly pull-up jumper from midrange, is better catching and shooting from outside, has a good handle on the ball, but is usually looking more for his own shot.

Defensively: He’s a shut down guy, who can force turnovers, come up with those same types of Rondo and Delonte blocks, plus he’s an athletic body who can finish on the break.

Overall, i’d say he’s more Tony Allen with a midrange game

I wonder how long after his retirement Tony Allen will continue to be the lazy comp for any prospect who is known for their defense.

Great words from a great man

The point isn't that it's crazy at all.  Half the reason I bumped it was because I was impressed with how dead on it was

I get it. I guess when you get picked 6th overall, there are higher expectations  ;D

Avery is pretty much maximizing his ability.  He could always shoot; his rookie struggles were more about nerves than ability.  And we knew he would be a plus defender.  And we also knew he was a tweener that didn't have the skills to run the point.

As for smart, we know he is not  avery good shooter (something he's demonstrated for a while).  We also know that he is a bit of tweener too, not really a PG, not really a SG.  We also know he is not particularly explosive offensively and that while his strength helps him, he will not be able to dominate because of it.  And we know he too is a plus defender.

So I fail to see the point.  The issue for me is not about results; never has been.  And if people are happy with a defensive role player, that's cool.  He is growing on me in that role too.  But let's not pretend he doesn't have glaring issues on the offensive side.  Issues, that for all intents and purposes may prevent him from becoming anything close to a star.

What does Smart have to do with Bradley?

I'm pretty sure the poster that bumped a five year old thread yesterday made that connection.
