I know these lists subjective and always a little silly but I'll be [dang]ed if I can understand what kind of a metric was used to put this ranking together. It's almost like the list was put together by people who looked at stats and never bothered to watch a game of basketball.

Larry Bird at #9 (below Oscar Robertson at #8) when he should be #2.
Kobe Bryant at #10 ahead of Shaquille O'Neal (#11) is ridiculous but Tim Duncan below both of them at #16 is even worse.
Hakeem at #18 is too low. If he's not top 10 he's knocking on the door.
John Stockton at #20 is maybe the best argument that this list was made on stats without any real knowledge of the game. I love Stockton but there's no chance he's the 20th best basketball player of all time, 2 spots ahead of Kevin Garnett (#22) and 4 spots ahead of Moses Malone (#24).
I love Kevin McHale but does anyone really think he deserved to be a spot ahead of Kevin Durant?
Dennis Rodman at #42 when Dave Cowens, Willis Reed, Nate Thurmond, Bill Walton, and James Worthy didn't make the list.
Reggie Miller over Paul Pierce and Sam Jones (not on the list) is ridiculous to me.
1957, 1959, 1960, 1961, 1962, 1963, 1964, 1965, 1966, 1968, 1969, 1974, 1976, 1981, 1984, 1986, 2008, 2024

I read "Larry Bird at #9" and that was enough for me to stop reading and forget even bothering to click the link.
You’ll have to excuse my lengthiness—the reason I dread writing letters is because I am so apt to get to slinging wisdom & forget to let up. Thus much precious time is lost.

I think Tim Duncan at #16 is actually the most ridiculous of all.  He has had a better career than Kobe, and is ten times the player Karl Malone ever was.

The real way you start these lists is to ask "Is Lebron in the top 10?" and if he is you shouldn't read it. He came in at 7.
