So with whitened contract looking the way it is could Ainge convince the heat to trade whites then sign him in free agency. Would it be the risk for an ALL-star center? What do you think

This author has no clue.  White side is not eligible for a contract extension/renegotiation.  There are zero teams, Heat included, that can sign him before free agency next year, unless Whiteside were released and cleared waivers.

The salary cap situation for Miami is certainly something to keep an eye on but its more likely that they let their expiring players leave in free agency (Chalmers, Andersen, Deng, & maybe even Haslem). They also could trade McRoberts to clear more space. If Whiteside has another great year, he'll likely become their 1st priority next offseason. Deng would likely be their 2nd priority.

The article is clearly conjecture, but putting this aside for a moment I think that is raises 2 questions worth discussion.

Assuming that Whiteside repeats last years success (12,10 and 2 blocks on 628% shooting)...

1. Is Miami -one of the top 3-5 free agent destination cities mind you- going to tie up the rest of it's cap after Bosh and Dragic with the amount it would take to lock up Whiteside to let's say 5/$80+ Million?(What the Cavs reportedly offered Tristan Thompson)

2. In the event that they decide they need to spend else where (Justise Winslow?) and they  let him walk. Do we then attempt to Sign and Trade for him and if so A. What kind of offer would we be looking at? B. What type of contract would you be willing to give.

Short hand - Would Miami Let Whiteside walk? If so would you sign in trade for him? If so for whom and how much would you offer Whiteside?

I'm personally high on Whiteside and want to get a dominant 5 in here so my answer would be.

Yes Miami might not be able to afford him.

Yes I would sign and trade whatever it would reasonably take to get him and pay him anything around 5/$90 Million (What Tristan Thompson is reportedly seeking)
