The title pretty much reveals it all;

The Indiana Pacers announced Thursday they have acquired forward Rakeem Christmas from the Cleveland Cavaliers in exchange for a 2019 second-round draft pick that the Pacers acquired in the recent trade for Roy Hibbert. – via NBA.com

Chris Haynes: Rakeem Christmas, Pacers reached agreement on four-year, $4.5 million deal, league sources tell @clevelanddotcom. Two years guaranteed.
I think it's crazy how some second rounders have been able to get such huge deals this year; First Joe Young, then Mickey and now Rakeem Christmas.
I'm especially surprised at Rakeem's deal given that he didn't play that well in the summer league. He played 4 games where he put up these numbers:
Quote
Game 1: 6 points, 1 rebound.
Game 2: 8 Points, 4 rebounds, 6 fouls
Game 3: 8 Points, 11 rebounds
Game 4: 10 points, 2 rebounds, 7 fouls.
Jack of all trades, master of none.

With the cap increase, 4.5 million over 4 years is a pittance, especially considering it's only partially guaranteed.

It's not that huge of a deal.  For perspective, if he were to sign for four years at the minimum, it would be $3.5 million over 4.  Especially with only two years guaranteed, it's not unreasonable for the 36th, summer league or no.

I meant to post about this somewhere.  Not the trade, specifically, but a story I saw regarding Cleveland's rookies.  Apparently, they either have no room or are unwilling to sign them or something, meaning that guys like Christmas could have been had for next to nothing, so I was curious to see how all of this played out.

Yeah, and they acquired the two seconds from Minny by trading out of the first.  Just trying to get something for that first they couldn't use, I suppose.  Seems a little shortsighted to me, but they're in veteran-win-mode as long as LBJ keeps going year to year.

You'd think that out of all of guys they drafted, Christmas, with his shot-blocking ability, would be the last person they'd let go, especially for a second round pick, lol ;D. The move just doesn't make sense to me.
