Yuck.

And by the way, isn't it fairly obvious that if the Celts can't use their picks to move up, they'll use them to move out of the draft (outside of 16)? I'm not all that turned off by keeping 16, trading 28 + 33 for an intriguing 2016 1st, and selling 45 for cash (or grabbing a draft and stash Euro).

Here's the thing -- if the Celts are unhappy with the depth in this draft, and other teams are also looking to trade out, what makes you think the Celts are going to be able to exchange those picks for an 'intriguing' future pick?
You’ll have to excuse my lengthiness—the reason I dread writing letters is because I am so apt to get to slinging wisdom & forget to let up. Thus much precious time is lost.

I don't like him or dislike him. However, he does provide a lot of draft content and is privileged to information, by way of scouts, agents, GM's, etc., that others don't when it comes to certain players.

I don't think your fond of him because he doesn't think highly of a player you have a thing for (Mickey). The ironic thing is that not one reputable mock has Mickey in the first rd, so Ford is hardly alone in the opinion.

I don't think the Celts are displeased with the draft's depth in general but I think it would take a distinguished draft class - such as last year's - to convince them that tying up another roster spot and cap space is worth it considering all of the inexperienced players they have on their roster. There are a few teams who aren't ridden with young unproven talent that will be looking for cheap depth, however, and I think would jump at 28 + 33. Portland would be wise to take a look at such an offer, for example.

Draft: 8 first rounders in next 5 years.

Cap space: $24 mil.

and how are you sure of this?  Why don't you look at the shady things he has done, like changing his mock draft list after the draft

You said "things", so is there something else?

Chad Ford definitely has some pretty good connections to teams and agents and other people involved in the draft process. That is, actually, his entire worth as a reporter/analyst.

I might be in the minority but I would be happy with those picks if the Cs actually where to draft 4 players. I am a believer that while not a super high ceiling player Dekker will be a solid to above averae starting SF. I think he has the makings of a wing who is a better fit in the NBA game then the college game. I hate the comp but chandler parsons comes to mind. T jones would be a value pick at 28. Upshaw is a likely bust but in the 2nd round why not take a gamble? Dawson has a real chance to stick in the league because of his defensive potential. With the small ball trend he maybe a nice fit as a bottom of te bench utility defender.

Dekker blows in the NBA. He has no real NBA value. Parsons can handle the ball, Dekker cannot and is more or a less a spot-up shooter at the next level. That can't shoot consistently apparently. That's why he's collapsing in the draft. I wouldn't be surprised to see Dekker fall off late into the first or even into the second. Dekker will be playing in Europe in a couple years..

There are guys in the local pub who can draft better than that while they are drunk.

Need more FIREWORKS.

Yeah if they expect the fanbase to swallow this pu-pu platter they have another thing coming. Especially if we strike out in FA..

The draft is such a crap shoot to hard to tell but right now I could go for that if it goes down that way.

If we're betting I say we end up with 1 maybe 2 picks, DA moves into the lottery and possible keeps a second rounder.

Yep. He was quoted elsewhere saying he believed this is a 7 player draft and his list didn't include Okafor. He really doesn't like him.

Why are people so down on these picks?

Tyus Jones at #28 would be fantastic; I can't see him lasting that long.  Dekker isn't going to wow anybody, but he's got a good shot of becoming a solid pro.  Upshaw has red flags, but is certainly gifted and is worth a look in the second round.

I wouldn't be disappointed with those picks.  Dekker seems like he has a better chance to contribute for us than any of the various power forwards out there.

The mock itself is nonsense, but we could do a lot worse.
