Because the perception is that there is a real possibility the Brooklyn pick will be great, it can be argued that the trade value of the pick will never be higher... seeing as it's just as likely they'll make the playoffs.  The closer "playoffs" looks likely for Brooklyn, the less likely someone will value it like a potential top 5 pick.

Only trade 2016 picks for topflight talent, not to move up in the draft.  Unless we are getting into the top 4 or 5 picks this year at a reasonable price, I'd rather stay at #16 this year and wait and see.

It would be nice but I don't think opposing GMs perceive the Brooklyn picks as great.  Brooklyn made the playoffs and the East is still weak.  At this point, I think their 2016 pick will end up being #10 to 12 or #15 (just miss or just make the playoffs).  If after free agency, Lopez and Young are gone and they are still stuck with Johnson and Williams that's when their 2016 pick would starting looking really good.  With the big changes coming, the value of the 2017 and 2018 picks is rather nebulous and I don't perceived as great any time soon.

Depends on the All-Star. 

I'd be very cautious about dealing those picks. There is a mighty good chance that all 3 picks - Dallas, NJ and Boston - are top 20. There's a better than average chance that one of these ends up top 10. It's of course pure speculation, and the draft, retirements, injuries, etc. all will alter how things shake out. But at this stage, all 3 teams look like they're marginal playoff contenders. Odds are that 3 marginal playoff teams all won't make the playoffs. It could be like this year in that all 3 make the playoffs and the Cs are picking 15, 16 and 21. But I think it's hard to imagine that it would be any worse than that and it could be significantly better.

Just say you are praying that BKN craps the bed and we end up with a top pick. I will. IDK why but I just love the rebuilding process, never happier!
And you never know what will happen with our pick, could be a top one also, depending on what we do especially in the draft.
