There's already a report out there that the Lakers are trying to low ball him and he isn't a huge priority after what transpired this season. I don't see anyone giving him close to a max deal. He might make about what he makes now $12 mill if that.

I expect he'll likely sign a 2 year deal in the range of $20m, with the 2nd year being a team or player option. Basically a one year, show us what you have left deal.

Why pay Rondo $10m when no one else in the league is willing to give him 5?
The running idea is that the list of players to be compensated omitted Rondo and no one in the locker room raised any objections, which is most certainly telling in itself.

Also, re: Tyson Chandler:

Quote from: Tyson Chandler
“We traded a lot of pieces for a point guard that’s not with us.”

He didn't quite throw Rondo under the bus.

Running Ideas are not truth.

And even in that Podcast, whoever Chris is says some pretty disparaging things about Rick Carlylse as well.

Yeah, there was another article on Mavs Moneyball I think that lists some players Carlisle couldn't work with. A recent one was Darren Collison and basically said Carlisle killed his confidence. Again, Rondo is definitely not without blame but I don't think he's 100% at fault either.

I think someone will pay him. Def not max, but he'll get something in the $8m - $10m range, with short years.

Also interesting that it's mentioned in the podcast that Monta Ellis and Rajon seemed to get along...but Monta, according to Tim McMahon - seemed to have chemistry issues even before Rondo got there??

What gives?

They're friends off the court. Rondo said Monta's like a brother to him and Tim MacMahon said Rajon was by far Monta's closest friend on the team in a previous article.

Ok.

What is sad is that the same posters on here only post the negative stuff about Rondo, and it is getting tiring.

I am glad I listened to most of the podcast.

When you attempt to hear things for yourself you tend to get a broader picture, and I'm glad I did that.

So what's the picture you have now?

The #Mavs players voted not to give Rondo a share of the $208,940 postseason pool they earned for making the playoffs.

Another Mavs beat writer saying that it was the players that voted.

Here's what's sad:

Rondo wore out his welcome in Boston. Now he wore out his welcome so badly in Dallas that he was thrown off the team in the middle of a playoff series! So badly, that he was voted no share for his participation in the playoffs. I suspect some of those players would prefer to vote that Rondo pay them back for screwing up their chances so badly. It isn't about performance. Its about quitting on the team. That never sits well with other players who are busting their arse's.

This is coming form a big Rondo fan. I said last year, no, he has shown no indication he will demand a max contract. No, he has shown no indication he wants to leave. However, I also said if we don't bring in Love, or some other star to jump start the rebuild, then Danny will have no choice but to trade Rondo. This is because Rondo will not stay here for a long-term rebuild and he will then leave with no compensation.

I like Rondo. I really do, but he can only thrive in a  situation that allows HIM to call the shots and maximize his strengths. Not many teams will do that, certainly not the Mav's! I agree with Rondo about one thing: The Mav's knew what they were getting. Why on Earth did they trade for him anyway?

Just my 0.02 anyway (with a couple of Martinis in me so take it with a grain of salt)

Rondo got kicked off the Mavs during the playoffs?

Welp, that's playoff Rondo all right!

This sounds like a bigger story than it really is when you do the math based on the numbers in that ESPN story from D.o.s.

Worst case Rondo missed out on $13,929.33, if you divide their playoff share equally by 15 guys (though Rondo gets less if they divide by minutes or games played or something else).

Rondo made $12,909,091 this year, so for comparison if you make $50k a year, that's like finding out your boss handed out $50 Starbucks gift cards after you quit half way through a project ($53.95 to be exact), or it's like missing out on $107.90 bonus if you make $100k per year.

I don't think too many of us regular folks would care if that happened to us.

I agree that the money aspect of it is pretty negligible.  However, isn't it pretty telling that the organization left Rondo off the list completely (if reports are true)?  Things had to have been pretty bad there at the end if the organization is keeping it off the list and not even including him in the voting of playoff shares, IMO.
It's even more telling that no-one in the locker room objected. I'm guessing the "oh-but-he-was-really-injured" line is dead in the water now.

If I need to take it with salt, then a Margarita would be better than a Martini ;)

The Mavs deserve a lot of blame for not doing their due diligence on this trade.  It makes me think that it was almost entirely a Cuban call and no one could tell him no.

I will admit, I thought adding Rondo to the Mavs would be a huge success but an NBA franchise is supposed to be run by people smarter than me.
