Could anyone see Danny trying to go for this in the offseason?

Offering Sully, Smart, Wallace, our 2015 1st rounder and the Brooklyn 2016 1st rounder for Cousins and then getting Love in free agency.

Love and Cousins would be quite the front court.

I suspect Love will exercise his PO for next year, and delay his big FA payday until the summer of 2016 when the salary cap explodes.

that's what I anticipate as well unless Cleveland implodes in the playoffs to the point he feels compelled to leave.

as for the Cousins proposal, I don't think Sac would consider it half of what they'd want.  I wouldn't pay double that simply because it'd wipe our all of our assets but I think Sac would want the moon for Cousins.

He was already getting killed for being the reason they weren't performing well in the first half of the season. If they get knocked out in the playoffs you best believe that he will be the scapegoat.

If that happens there is no way he stays.

Getting these two is my dream offseason. I think if we sign Cousins the likelihood Love signs here increases. The hard part would be getting Cousins and how much it will cost.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

Kevin Pelton agrees:

Hello Kevin with the cap jumping in 2016 will we see a lot of 1 yr deals this summer? and will small market teams be more willing to overpay and possibly go into tax to keep players knowing they get cap relief the following summer?

Kevin Pelton  (3:04 PM)

Mentioned this last week, but I think most players will take the security of a long-term deal since the coming rise in the cap should be reflected in large part in offers this summer. The exception would be max players like Kevin Love, who will not be able to make as much this summer as they can in the summer of 2016.

I think the only way Love opts out is if there's a dreadful playoff collapse by the Cavs where Love is singled out as the goat.

That is not to say that he won't sign a max deal this offseason with a opt out clause next year. That way he gets a raise this year and still can get paid more the season after.

Cousins is the ONLY reason people pay attention to the team at all. From a pure "put butts in the seats" perspective, Sac needs Cousins unless they're getting another draw back. Can't imagine they are looking to deal away the only thing they have going..

They would probably want a top 3 pick for starters. If the Knicks get the No 1, I could see them trading it for Cousins this summer..

Don't want either one of these two.

dealing away Cousins is essentially starting over for them. In my honest opinion, he is their best player. People say he is immature but I think he is improving when it comes to controlling his emotions. He has the same fire as Smart and that is to win and won't back down from a fight. I want that. He will be a legit star, and quite possibly the best center the East will have if he comes over. I will TRY to offer everything besides Smart to grab Cousins. That will definitely shorten our rebuild period.

Few thoughts on this...first, I don't want to give up Smart in my opinion.  He's not TOTALLY untouchable, but he's pretty close...and I wouldn't do it for either of those two players.  I'm torn about Kevin Love.

Even if the Cavs win a title this year, I'm not convinced he's staying.  He's putting up solid numbers, but he's a total afterthought on the offensive end on that team, and I'm still not convinced he can play defense very well.  He wasn't used at all in the 4th quarter last night of a close game against the Spurs, to the point where he wasn't even on the bench when Blatt randomly decided to put him back in halfway through overtime.  Mike Miller had to run into the tunnel to tell him that that he was going back in.  Plus, I do think there's something to the pic Lebron posted on twitter with his "brothers" and Love is nowhere to be found.

Love does not play defense, this forum and LA are two of the few places his reputation has not taken a hit this year.   I hope he goes to LA, LeBron deserves this and LA does as well.

I can't see this as being a realistic possibility.
